Phillies Winter Tour: Phanatic About Reading School Assembly
On Tuesday, Jan. 17, one of the top performing schools in the Phanatic About Reading program presented by Xfinity received a surprise visit by members of the 2022 National League Champion Phillies.
Students and teachers were treated to an interactive event that featured the Phillie Phanatic, who teamed up with manager Rob Thomson, outfielder Brandon Marsh and rookie outfielder Dalton Guthrie that read or acted out scenes from the book, The Phillie Phanatic’s Hero.
This free, incentive-based program encourages students in grades Pre-K through 8 to read or be read to for a minimum of 15 minutes a day to improve their literacy skills. More than 164,000 students participate in the program.
The event is part of the team’s offseason Winter Tour, that will be featuring numerous community and charitable events taking place one month before pitchers and catchers report for spring training in Clearwater, Florida.
