Phillies & KLYR Rum unveil new ‘K-Counter of the Game’ honoring veterans & first responders
On Wednesday, July 6, the Phillies and KLYR Rum, the preferred rum of the Phillies, revealed a new strikeout ‘K-Counter of the Game’ to honor military veterans and first responders at Citizens Bank Park. The announcement was made during the team’s grand opening celebration of the KLYR Rum Patio in Ashburn Alley.
There were several special guests in attendance including 1993 National League Champion Mickey Morandini, Phillies Vice President of Partnership Sales & Corporate Marketing Jackie Cuddeback, Phillies Radio Network broadcaster Gregg Murphy and the Phillies Ballgirls.
In addition to a celebrity toast, the first-ever manual strikeout K-Counter at the ballpark was revealed, showcasing the strikeouts made by every Phillies pitcher.
As part of the unveil, Army Staff Sergeant Nicole Korte, who served with the 11th Aviation Brigade, 84th Atlantic Training Division, 99th Readiness Division and 9th Battalion 98th Regiment in Ford Dix, NJ, had the honor of adding the first celebratory strikeout to the counter, alongside KLYR Rum CEO Amish Patel and the Phillie Phanatic.
The Phillies also announced that at each game this season a military veteran or first responder will be given the unique experience of being the ‘K-Counter of the Game.’
