August 16: Kids attending summer camp at the Ford PAL Center in South Philadelphia received free lunches - served by the Phillie Phanatic, Phillies Ballgirls, Phillies Director of Public Affairs Scott Palmer, and volunteers from Philabundance and GIANT Food Stores. The free lunches are part of Philabundance's Kid's LunchBox program, which provides access to nutritious food in low-income areas for children and their families. A $30,000 donation was made to support the program through MLB's Home Plate Project initiative, held in partnership with Garth Brooks' Teammates for Kids Foundation and Big League Impact, dedicated to fighting childhood hunger. Through this initiative, more than $900,000 has been committed to helping local food organizations affiliated with MLB clubs. Miles Kennedy/Philadelphia Phillies
