Phillies Summer of Giving presented by The GIANT Company begins Sunday, featuring charitable events in the community and at the ballpark

Phillies Ballgirls ‘Play for Her’ Wiffle Ball Tournament at UYA Softball Fields is the first of 10 events!

The Phillies and The GIANT Company are teaming up to host their annual Summer of Giving, featuring charitable events being held throughout the Delaware Valley and at Citizens Bank Park.

Highlights include guest appearances by Phillies Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer John Middleton, outfielder Kyle Schwarber, 1993 National League champions Milt Thompson and Mickey Morandini, the Phillie Phanatic, Phillies Ballgirls and Phillies Ambassador Scott Palmer, who will bring the Phillies fun to various organizations that are making a difference in the community.

Participating charitable groups include USO of PA and NJ, Jefferson Moss Magee Rehabilitation Center – Center City, MANNA, Philadelphia Police Foundation and Project HOME.

  • Sunday, July 16: Phillies Ballgirls “Play For Her” Wiffle Ball Tournament, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m., Phillies Urban Youth Academy Softball Fields at FDR Park. The Phillies Ballgirls and Ballgirl alumni are teaming up with females in the tri-state area for the first annual Play for Her Tournament benefitting the Phillies Urban Youth Academy softball programs.
  • Monday, July 17: Phillies Give Back at MANNA. The Phillies family will make a special visit that morning to MANNA, where they will work on supervised tasks that MANNA chefs assign such as chopping vegetables, packing meals, filling meal trays, making sandwiches, baking and additional tasks. The event is part of Phillies Give Back, a monthly employee volunteer program where members of the Phillies family go out into the community to help different non-profits.
  • Tuesday, July 18: Phillies Pep Rally, Jefferson Moss Magee Rehabilitation Center – Center City. The team will hold a lunchtime pep rally for patients and staff, equipped with giveaways, Phillies Ballgirls, the Phillie Phanatic, and more! Special guests also include John Middleton, Mickey Morandini and Milt Thompson.
  • Wednesday, July 19: Mickey Morandini’s Corn Hole Classic, Third Base Plaza, Citizens Bank Park. Take on Phillies Ambassadors Mickey Morandini and Milt Thompson in a game of cornhole for a $5 minimum donation to Phillies Charities at that night’s 6:40 p.m. game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Each participant gets challenged to three throws of cornhole. Beat the ambassador and win a prize!
  • Thursday, July 20: Phillies Ball Kid of the Month, Citizens Bank Park. This is going to be a great honor for 10-year-old Da’Shay Washington, from Camden, NJ. Washington, who was born with sickle cell disease and requires monthly blood transfusions, will represent the Phillies Ballgirls as the official “Ball Kid of the Month” prior to that day’s 12:35 p.m. game against the Milwaukee Brewers. This once-in-a-lifetime experience is given to a child battling cancer or another disease.
  • Monday, July 24: Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes, Citizens Bank Park. Before that night’s 6:40 p.m. game against the Brewers, Schwarber will welcome members from the Philadelphia Police Foundation during a meet and greet at batting practice. The visit is part of Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes community ticket program, where Schwarber and his wife, Paige, thank front line heroes and responders for their service.
  • Tuesday, July 25: Annual Phillies Ballgirls Christmas in July Toy Drive, Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies Ballgirls will collect new and unwrapped toys at the entrance gates during that night’s 6:40 p.m. game against the Baltimore Orioles to benefit local organizations dedicated to improving the lives of children.
  • Wednesday, July 26: Strikeout the Stigma, Citizens Bank Park. This special pregame event, taking place before that night’s game against the Orioles, is dedicated to bringing important conversations to the forefront surrounding mental health. Fans can sign up for this Theme Night Ticket event here, with July’s session focused on the “Relationship Between Physical and Mental Health.”
  • Thursday, July 27:
  • USO School Supply, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Citizens Bank Park. Military families will visit the ballpark to shop for school supplies, all donated by Phillies fans from a recent game, with surprise guests including the Phillie Phanatic, Milt Thompson and Phillies Ballgirls. The event is in partnership with USO of PA and NJ their Rucksacks to Backpacks program.
  • Project HOME BINGO Night, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Project HOME. The Phillies are joining Project HOME to host a special Phillies-themed BINGO party for those affiliated with this Philadelphia non-profit, which offers permanent, subsidized housing for individuals and families who have been homeless. Attendees will receive special Phillies giveaways, as well as GIANT gift cards for all BINGO winners! The event is hosted by Scott Palmer, with special guest BINGO helpers Micky Morandini and the Phillie Phanatic.
