Highlights from Aaron Nola’s star-studded Bowling for the Troops charity event

May 22, 2024

Aaron Nola and his teammates threw a different kind of strike during their day off from baseball!

On Monday, May 20, D.G Yuengling & Son, Inc., America’s Oldest Brewery®, and Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola teamed up to host their second annual charity bowling tournament to benefit Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB), a nonprofit dedicated to enriching veterans’ lives and forging America’s leading health and wellness community for veterans.

Nola, a longtime supporter of Team RWB, was joined by his teammates and coaches, along with Eagles legends Fletcher Cox and Jordan Mailata, corporate partners and devoted Phillies fans for a special evening of bowling at Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia in Fishtown. Phillies executives, broadcaster Tom McCarthy (who emcee’d the event), 1993 National League champion Mickey Morandini, the Phillie Phanatic and Phillies Ballgirls joined in on the fun as well.

Also coming out to support the troops at the sold-out event was Wendy Yuengling, Chief Administrative Officer, who presented a $60,000 donation to Team RWB. Another heartwarming moment: Team RWB founder and executive director Lt. Colonel Mike Erwin surprised Nola by presenting him with the American flag from the Old Glory Relay, which returned after its 30-day, 1,600-mile relay journey from Philadelphia to Chicago.

It was indeed a well-spent off-day for Aaron Nola and the entire Phillies family!
