MIAMI -- Players' Weekend is a chance for Marlins reliever Tayron Guerrero to remind everybody of where he's from.
Guerrero is sporting "El De Bocachica" on the back of his No. 56 jersey, paying tribute to the small island he grew up on in Colombia.

The hard-throwing right-hander is the first person from Bocachica to reach the big leagues. He grew up taking a boat from the island to the mainland to play baseball. Often, he'd return after dark and walk through the woods to get home.
Guerrero's nickname roughly translates to "the guy from Bocachica."

"That means a lot to the fans in Bocachica. The people in Bocachica love it," Guerrero said. "Since I put the picture on my Instagram, the people in Bocachica were going crazy. People told me, 'I'm proud of you. You always have our island on your mind.' I'm happy about that."
The second Players' Weekend is taking place Friday through Sunday, with players on all 30 clubs wearing uniforms with names they select on the back.
"I like it," manager Don Mattingly said. "I think this game really is a kids' game. Really, when you talk about this weekend, and with the Little League World Series going on, I think it's a time in your life when you start playing and you love the game."
Infielder Miguel Rojas has "Miggy Ro" on the back of his jersey, and he took batting practice using a bat that has the Venezuelan flag painted on it. Dan Straily, who started on Friday against the Braves, has "Thunder" on his back. Reliever Drew Steckenrider is going by "Steckasaurus."

"For me, it's growing the game towards the future, to the young kids," Mattingly said. "It also takes these guys back to when they were a young age and gives them that feeling of when they first started."

• Right-hander Elieser Hernandez (right third finger blister) and left-hander Jarlin Garcia (right ankle contusion) were placed on the 10-day disabled list. Both suffered their injuries Thursday in a loss to the Braves. In corresponding moves, the Marlins reinstated right-hander Kyle Barraclough (low back stiffness) from the 10-day DL to pitch in setup situations, and they recalled right-hander Ben Meyer from Triple-A New Orleans.
