The Marlins escaped a no-out, bases-loaded situation in the second inning of Thursday afternoon's 7-0 Game 3 loss to the Braves in the National League Division Series at Minute Maid Park, thanks to a run-saving catch by left fielder Corey Dickerson.

Marlins starter Sixto Sánchez loaded the bases on a single and two walks, but he struck out Adam Duvall on a 100.3 mph fastball for the first out of the frame. It was the seventh-fastest K by a starting pitcher in the postseason since pitch tracking began in 2008.

Braves right fielder Nick Markakis then lined a ball toward left-center that Dickerson made a great diving catch on, keeping the game scoreless and the bases loaded. Then Sánchez got Austin Riley to ground into a forceout to end the second.

“On that play, just leave it out on the field today,” Dickerson said. “Try to compete. I had to repay Markakis back for getting me yesterday.”

Dickerson was referring to being thrown out at second base in the eighth inning Wednesday on Jon Berti’s blooper, which fell in front of Markakis in right field.

Dickerson's grab had a 15 percent catch probability, and he had to cover 35 feet in just 2.8 seconds. That's the lowest catch probability successfully converted so far this postseason.
