Jazz Chisholm Jr. is the next face of MLB The Show.

The Marlins' electric young second baseman-turned-center fielder was announced as the cover athlete for MLB The Show 23 on Monday.

"It's something I always dreamed of from when I was a kid," Chisholm said in a special live stream on MLB's YouTube channel after the cover reveal. "I always wanted to be [on the cover of a video game], but I never thought it would become a reality as quick as it has."

MLB The Show 23 will be released on March 28 -- just before Opening Day on March 30. The game will be available for PlayStation 5, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.

Chisholm is the latest of a wave of baseball's most exciting young stars to be on the cover of MLB The Show. That's been the theme for the last six editions of the game, following Ken Griffey Jr.'s appearance on the cover in 2017 after his election to the Hall of Fame.

Miami's 24-year-old All-Star will take over the MLB The Show cover from Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani, who was MLB The Show's cover athlete in 2022. Other superstars to be featured on the cover of MLB The Show in recent seasons include Aaron Judge and Bryce Harper.

Earlier MLB The Show cover athletes since the game debuted in 2006 include David Ortiz, David Wright, Ryan Howard, Dustin Pedroia, Joe Mauer, Adrián González, Andrew McCutchen, Miguel Cabrera, Yasiel Puig and Josh Donaldson.

"It's just the start," Chisholm said of being in all those players' company. "It's just one of these things that you can check off your bucket list and be like, 'Bro, I'm with some great people right here.' Most of these guys are gonna be Hall of Famers at the end of their career. So it's pretty sick."

Since Chisholm made his big league debut in Miami in 2020 he's become one of baseball's most fun players to watch and one of its brightest personalities. He'll be the first Marlins player on the cover of the flagship MLB The Show game.

On the field, Chisholm is a dynamic power-speed threat who has 34 home runs and 37 stolen bases in the Majors. He became MLB's first-ever Bahamian All-Star in 2022 after a 14-homer, 12-steal first half.

But more than that, Chisholm is even more of a star because he plays with flair, from his bat flips to his highlight-reel plays on defense to his Euro step home run celebration. He has the same flair off the field, from his style to his "Prince Jazz" Instagram bio to the blue hair he broke out before Opening Day last season. Chisholm even brought his infectious energy to the TV booth for the 2022 postseason when he joined MLB Network as a guest host.

All that made Chisholm a natural choice for the MLB The Show cover. He even loves to play The Show himself -- and his Euro step is in the game.

Chisholm remembers when he first saw his video game self Euro stepping across home plate in a trailer for MLB The Show 22.  

"My little brother sent me a video of it, because it came out on the trailer, and I was like, 'Oh, [snap], this is crazy, bro,'" Chisholm said. "It was too crazy for me.

"I was on Instagram all day, Twitter, just watching the trailer, just to pause it at the spot where it has me doing the Euro step. It's so dope."

Preorders for MLB The Show 23 open on the PlayStation Store next Monday, Feb. 6. The standard edition of the game will be $59.99 for PlayStation 4 and $69.99 for PlayStation 5.

The Collector's Edition of the game will be unveiled on Thursday. New features for MLB The Show 23 will be announced closer to the game's launch.
