Hoeing, who had been sidelined since May 2 with a left hamstring strain, made his first start of the season in the series opener against the White Sox. He posted a 1.82 ERA in 11 relief outings prior to the injury. Miami is building up Hoeing, who didn't throw more than 49 pitches during his rehab assignment, to be a starter. 10-day/15-day injured list

INF (lower back inflammation)
Expected return: In 10 days

LHP (left index finger strain)
Expected return: Post-All-Star break
Weathers will be evaluated for throwing in 1-2 weeks. He was pulled after giving up a two-run homer to Cleveland's Brayan Rocchio on the 40th pitch of his June 7 start.

"Not really a setback," manager Skip Schumaker said. "It was going to be four to six weeks and there's still a little bit of the swelling in there. Unfortunately, it's just wait it out and make sure everything's good to go before he starts playing catch again. It's still going to take a little bit of time." (Last updated: July 2)

LHP (left forearm flexor strain)
Expected return:
TBD
Garrett, who was placed on the IL on June 23 after he was scratched from his scheduled start, is asymptomatic while rehabbing in Jupiter, Fla. (Last updated: July 2)

60-day injured list

RHP (right shoulder impingement)
Expected return: Sunday
Cabrera, who was scheduled to go six innings, or 80-85 pitches, for Triple-A Jacksonville on July 6 in his fourth -- and possibly final -- rehab start, was back in Miami on July 4. This could hint toward him being reinstated from the 60-day injured list on July 7.

Cabrera needed 67 pitches to go three innings, allowing four runs in his outing on June 30. He tossed four hitless frames on 60 pitches with seven strikeouts and two walks on June 25, and threw 49 pitches across three frames on June 19.

Cabrera, who was placed on the 15-day IL on May 8, was transferred to the 60-day on June 23. He will be eligible to return on July 7, at the earliest. (Last updated: July 5)

RHP (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return: July 11 at the earliest
Sánchez threw a 26-pitch bullpen on June 29 after tossing 18 pitches in his first bullpen session on June 26. He will continue to advance activities.

The Marlins transferred him to the 60-day IL on June 25 based on how much time he has missed and how much more he will miss for his rehab assignment. After experiencing a big dip in velocity in his May 31 start vs. Texas, Sánchez was placed on the IL on June 2. Sánchez has had a history of major shoulder problems, including two surgeries that caused him to miss three big league seasons from 2021-23. (Last updated: July 2)

RHP (Tommy John surgery)
Expected return: 2025
Alcantara, who is with the team in Miami, is beginning to increase intensity in his throwing program. He initially felt the discomfort on the 94th and final pitch of his Sept. 3 start against the Nationals and was diagnosed with a right forearm flexor strain. An MRI later revealed a right UCL sprain. He began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Sept. 21 but shut himself down after experiencing forearm tightness. (Last updated: July 2)

LHP (left elbow ulnar neuritis)
Expected return: Post-All-Star break
Simpson, who underwent surgery for left elbow ulnar neuritis on April 23, has been continuing to progress with his throwing program in Jupiter, Fla.

Simpson had tossed one inning for Single-A Jupiter on April 6 after previously completing one inning and 25 pitches in an extended spring game on April 2 before experiencing a setback. Simpson, who opened the season on the injured list (retroactive to March 25), didn't pitch in a Grapefruit League game after his Feb. 27 outing because he began to feel discomfort. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 20. (Last updated: July 2)

LHP (lumbar stress reaction)
Expected return: 4-6 weeks
Luzardo, who is resting, was placed on the 15-day IL on June 22, then was transferred to the 60-day the next day. He was scratched from his June 22 start after dealing with the back issue for a couple of weeks. (Last updated: July 2)

RHP (right UCL tear)
Expected return:
2025
Pérez continues to progress well with his rehab, per the Marlins. The rookie opened the season on the injured list (retroactive to March 25). Pérez had Tommy John surgery on April 8 after experiencing soreness in his bullpen session on April 2. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 4.

Pérez's recurring nail issue had forced him to exit for precautionary reasons after just 14 pitches on March 13, but the bigger issue arose the following morning when he reported feeling soreness in his right elbow. (Last updated: July 2)

OF (left hip surgery; No. 5 on the Marlins top prospect list)
Expected return: 2025
Miami's No. 5 prospect underwent season-ending left hip femoral acetabular impingement surgery on June 21. Head was sent on a rehab assignment with the Florida Complex League Marlins on June 4, but he hadn't played since June 5.

Head appeared in three games for Single-A Jupiter after joining the Marlins' organization in the Luis Arraez trade before being placed on the Minor League seven-day injured list on May 20 with an undisclosed injury. He previously missed time with an adductor strain. (Last updated: June 18)
