Marlins Nike Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities

Marlins Nike RBI is an invitational sports-based youth program designed to promote interest in baseball, softball, academic achievement, and social responsibility in underserved areas of South Florida. The program offers free, instructional and competitive summer baseball & fastpitch softball for youth ages 13-18.

The Marlins supply uniforms, umpires and equipment to more than 650 children annually. All participants enjoy a fun and competitive summer league in addition to clinics hosted by Marlins players and alumni. Participants can also take part in our Marlins Nike RBI Winter Development Clinics at the Marlins Youth Academy at Babcock Park, an on-field recognition ceremony during RBI Night, and have access to scholarship opportunities. Through Marlins Nike RBI, participants can apply for the RBI Legacy Scholarship ($2,500) and National RBI for RBI Scholarship Recipients ($20,000).

This past season, our junior baseball and softball division won the MLB RBI Southeast Regional Tournament in St. Petersburg, FL. Both teams went on to compete in the MLB RBI World Series at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, FL.

Jr. Baseball is for participants League Age 13 - 15-year-old. League Age is determined by a participants physical age on April 30th. If an athlete turns 16 on or after May 1, 2024, they are league age 15 and are deemed eligible to participate. If an athlete turns 16 on April 30th, they would be League Age 16 and are not eligible for the Jr. Baseball division.

Softball is for participants League Age 13 - 18. League Age is determined by a participants physical age on August 31st. If an athlete turns 19 on or after September 1st, 2024, they are league age 18, and are deemed eligible to participate. If an athlete turns 13 on or after September 1st, they would be League Age 12 and not eligible for the softball division.

Sr. Baseball is for participants League Age 13 - 18-year-old. League Age is determined by a participants physical age on April 30th. If an athlete turns 19 on or after May 1st, 2024, they are league age 18 and are deemed eligible to participate. If an athlete turns 19 on April 30th, they would be League Age 19 and not eligible for the senior baseball division.

Marlins Nike RBI All-Star teams presented by Nike consist of 45 recruited, top-notch, athletes amongst the Marlins Nike RBI Program that are selected and are sent to compete in the prestigious three day Southeast Regional Tournament in Jacksonville, Florida. These three all-star teams include: a 15-player roster junior baseball division (ages 13-15), a 15-player roster senior baseball division (ages 16-18) and a 15-player roster softball division (ages 13-18). Our all-star teams compete against other MLB Nike RBI Clubs in hopes of winning the Regional Title and advancing to the MLB Nike RBI World Series, held at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida. The Miami Marlins Foundation, with the support of Nike, provide uniforms, transportation, boarding and meals for the tournament.
