Using the suite of resources from the program, schools run First Pitch activities in a number of ways:
During P.E. curriculum time
Before or after school clubs
Lunchtime and breaktimes
Intra- and inter-school Festivals and Championships
MLB First Pitch was first introduced to primary schools in the UK in 2021, and has been played in over 800 schools since, with over 50,000 participants. Participating schools are provided with fun and inclusive resources to help spark an interest in physical activity and sport through learning how to play baseball and developing basic skills.
MLB First Pitch in the UK is delivered in partnership with Youth Sport Trust, a children's charity for improving the education and development of young people through play and sport, and BaseballSoftballUK, the national development agency for baseball and softball in the UK.
The programme sits at the heart of the MLB London Series Legacy, which aims to bring more opportunities to play and participate to anyone who wants to get involved long after the final out of the London Series.
With the London Series as the perfect backdrop, MLB and BSUK have hosted several MLB First Pitch Festivals since 2023, giving young people a taste of baseball outside the classroom. The Festivals are a celebration of the sport and help connect participants and schools with each other and with local clubs in the community. Festivals have now been held in Sheffield, Cardiff, Liverpool and London, with more than 1500 participants taking part from over 60 schools.

BaseballSoftballUK works to connect First Pitch schools with local baseball and softball clubs to encourage continued play and transitions from educational to community settings.
Clubs have supported their local First Pitch schools by volunteering at school-hosted MLB First Pitch Festivals and Championships as well as supporting in-school delivery and some even hosting skills clinics.
