Shana Daum is entering her 26th season with the Giants and oversees media relations, business and internal communications, external affairs, community relations and player, alumni and family relations. She also works in collaboration with the Giants Community Fund to support the organization’s flagship community program Junior Giants. In addition to managing the Club’s communications strategy and community outreach, programs and initiatives, Daum has played an integral role in many of the organization’s ceremonies, celebrations and awareness events including the opening of Oracle Park in 2000, Until There’s A Cure Day, Strike Out Violence Day, Girls Day, Opening Day festivities, Wall of Fame inductions, World Series Trophy tours, Bochy’s farewell, the BP28 Gala and bringing fans back to Oracle Park throughout the pandemic. She is a member of the Giants DE&I Council, serving as co-chair from 2020-2023, in which she led the organization through some of its most challenging times in confronting social injustices and working to create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace for Giants employees.
Daum’s career in sports media and public relations spans three decades and includes stops with three professional Bay Area teams before joining the Giants, including the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Spiders (International Hockey League) and San Jose Lasers (American Basketball League).
She is a graduate of the University of California, Davis and received her Master’s in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco. Daum is a former board member of Bishop O’Dowd High School and is a member of Multiplying Good/Jefferson Awards Students In Action Bay Area Advisory Board.
Daum lives in Oakland with her husband, Rick, and has two daughters, Eleanor and Grace.
