Jorge Costa enters his 33rd year with the Giants. Costa oversees all operations staff and event personnel, which includes First Aid, security, guest services, groundskeepers, parking, janitorial and engineering. He also serves as the team’s liaison to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Under Costa’s direction, the Giants implemented the TEAM (Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management) program in 1989 and became pioneers in venue management by being the first professional sports team to create a Traffic Safety Day in 1990. Because of his continued growth of safety and alcohol awareness programs, Costa has been bestowed numerous awards such as the Superior Achievement Award from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and was named a charter member of the Designated Driver Advisory Committee.

Costa has been instrumental in Oracle Park’s LEED Certification success. The park earned Silver Certification in 2010, Gold in 2015 and finally Platinum in 2019. Oracle Park is the only MLB Park to achieve this level of greening sustainability excellence. In addition, in 2019 MLB named the Giants as the recipient of the 2019 Green Glove Award securing the Club’s 11th Green Glove Award in 12 seasons. During the COVID-19 pandemic Costa guided Oracle Park to become the first MLB stadium to receive ISSA’s GBAC accreditation, certifying that the park is adhering to the gold standard for prepared facilities in cleaning, disinfecting and infectious disease prevention.

Prior to his tenure with the Giants, the St. Mary’s College graduate served as Commissioner Peter Ueberroth’s West Coast liaison for stadium operations and security, and was Director of Operations for eight years at the Oakland Coliseum. Costa has also worked dozens of worldclass international events as a venue operator. These events include the Melbourne Cricket Grounds in 1988, baseball venues in Spain for the 1992 Olympics, Stanford Stadium for the 1994 FIFA World Cup, the first international regular season baseball game in Monterrey, Mexico in 1996 ,the Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2007 and the Olympics in Beijing, China in 2008. In 2012, Costa operated the World Baseball Classic Qualifier in Regensburg, Germany followed by hosting the 2013 World Baseball Classic Finals at Oracle Park. Most recently, Costa worked the inaugural MLB London Series in 2019 at London Stadium.
