Jack Bair has served as a trusted counselor and key strategist to the San Francisco Giants baseball team since January 1993. As he enters his 32nd season with the Giants, Bair has made his mark on many aspects of the organization. He is responsible for the team’s legal matters and for managing the team’s many and complex relations with the City & County of San Francisco and other governmental entities. Bair also serves as President of Giants Development Services, the subsidiary of the San Francisco Giants responsible for real estate matters, including Mission Rock, the mixed-use development just south of Oracle Park. Bair also led the effort to develop the team’s international headquarters and player development facility in the Dominican Republic.

Bair played a critical role in the Giants successful effort to develop a new ballpark in downtown San Francisco. Bair coordinated the effort to select the site for the new ballpark and contributed significantly to the ballpark’s architectural design. Bair was the Giants liaison and chief spokesperson for the successful 1996 ballpark campaign. Bair also negotiated the business transaction with the City and coordinated the successful effort to gain the local, regional, state and federal governmental approvals necessary for the ballpark to meet its timetable for Opening Day in April of 2000.

Bair is recognized as one of the leading lawyers in professional sports. The San Francisco Business Times & Silicon Valley Business Times honored Bair for his accomplishments in the legal community by awarding him its Lifetime Achievement Award. Bair has been very active in the community, serving as a volunteer on several non-profit boards. Bair currently serves as an officer of the Giants Community Fund and the San Francisco Neighborhood Theater Foundation. The Theater Foundation is responsible for saving and renovating several historic theatres in San Francisco. Bair also teaches at Stanford Law School and previously taught in the Sports Management Program at the University of San Francisco. Bair is also active in The Olympic Club, serving in volunteer positions, including its Board of Directors and competing for the Club in several sports, including golf, tennis and softball. Bair is a graduate of the University of California, Davis and Yale Law School.
