Greg Johnson is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Control Person of the San Francisco Giants. A long-time Giants fan, Mr. Johnson’s family has been part of the team’s ownership group since 1993.
Apart from his responsibilities with the Giants, Mr. Johnson is the Chairman of the Board and Director of Franklin Resources, Inc. [NYSE:BEN], a global investment management company with offices in 35 countries managing $1.5 trillion in assets, and serves as the Executive Chairman of the company. During his over three decades with Franklin Templeton, Mr. Johnson has been instrumental in developing the company’s overall strategic direction, executing on its strategy, and advancing Franklin Templeton’s client-centric culture. Mr. Johnson was elected co-CEO of Franklin Resources in 2004 and served as the company’s CEO beginning in 2005 until February 2020. In 2020, Mr. Johnson became Executive Chairman.
Mr. Johnson earned a B.S. in Accounting and Business Administration in 1983 from Washington and Lee University, and his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate in 1985. He is a board member and past Chairman of the Investment Company Institute’s Board of Governors. Mr. Johnson is a past Vice Chairman of the Mutual Fund Forum and a past Chairman of the Western district of the Securities Industry Association. He is a cur- rent board member of Jumpstart, an early literacy and education organization, and the San Francisco Symphony.
He also serves on the board of the US Olympic and Paralympics Foundation (USOPF).
