LATEST NEWS

10-DAY/15-DAY INJURED LIST

LHP (left hamstring strain)
Expected return: Mid-September
Ray threw two simulated innings in a bullpen session on Sept. 4 and had another bullpen session on Sept. 7. He is expected to throw 50-60 pitches in a live batting practice session on Sept. 11 at Oracle Park, Giants manager Bob Melvin said.

“If everything goes well for Robbie, then we would put him back in the rotation,” Melvin said.

After undergoing an MRI, Ray was placed on the 15-day injured list on Aug. 27, retroactive to Aug. 26. He grabbed the back of his left leg after delivering a pitch against the Mariners on Aug. 25 at T-Mobile Park. He missed the first half of the season while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. RHP (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return: Mid-September
Hicks is scheduled to throw 25-30 pitches in a rehab appearance with Single-A San Jose on Sept. 10. He landed on the injured list on Aug. 27. Hicks is 4-7 with a 3.90 ERA this year. He made 20 starts before being moved to the bullpen in late July. (Last updated: Sept. 10)

RHP (right elbow inflammation)
Expected return: Possibly September
Rodríguez, 24, logged a 3.93 ERA over 33 Major League appearances before landing on the 15-day IL on Aug. 15 (retroactive to Aug. 14). He was diagnosed with a flexor strain and shut down for two weeks before resuming a throwing program on Sept. 3. He threw a 20-pitch bullpen session at Oracle Park on Sept. 10. LHP Kyle Harrison (left shoulder inflammation)
Expected return: TBD
An MRI on Sept. 5 revealed mild left shoulder inflammation, and the rookie was placed on the IL the following day. Considering where the season’s calendar is and that Harrison has thrown a career-high 124 1/3 innings, manager Bob Melvin said there’s a possibility the lefty won’t pitch again this year.

“To ramp him back up, I don’t know for sure,’’ Melvin said.

After winning four of his first five decisions to begin the year, Harrison has a 7.76 ERA over his last six starts.

“At times, he has performed really well,’’ Melvin said. “Other times, he’s been hit around. But he hasn’t shied away from anything. I think overall it’s a successful season for him. He learned how to deal with pitching every fifth day, and I think he will be better for it next year.” (Last updated: Sept. 6)

60-DAY IL

C (left knee sprain)
Expected return: Possibly September
Murphy is continuing his rehab in San Francisco after he felt a pop in his knee after going down to try to block a wild pitch in the second inning of the Giants' 14-3 loss to the Phillies on May 4. He began a hitting and running progression on Aug. 17 and was scheduled to run the bases on Sept. 10-11.

Murphy was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 5, and an MRI exam revealed a Grade 1-2 sprain. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on May 15 to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for fellow backstop Curt Casali. Murphy visited Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on July 25 after experiencing inflammation behind his knee and in his hamstring. He received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his left knee on July 30.

Signed to a two-year, $8.25 million deal in December, Murphy hit .118 with one home run over his first 13 games with the Giants. (Last updated: Sept. 10)

INF (right knee tendinitis)
Expected return: 2025
Flores will be out for the rest of the season, manager Bob Melvin announced on Aug. 6. The first baseman traveled to Los Angeles and underwent a Tenex procedure on his right knee with Dr. Steve Yoon on Aug. 6. He was placed on the injured list on July 25 (retroactive to July 24), after last appearing as a pinch-hitter on July 23 against the Dodgers. He had returned from the same injury on July 9. The Giants transferred him to the 60-day injured list on Aug. 16.

“He was fighting it all year and unfortunately, we're losing him for the rest of the year, which isn't ideal,” Melvin said. (Last updated: Aug. 17)

RHP (right elbow surgery)
Expected return: 2025
Winn is continuing his rehab in San Francisco after undergoing season-ending right elbow surgery in Los Angeles on July 29. Dr. Steven Shin performed an ulnar nerve transposition, which takes pressure off the nerve by moving it from the back of the elbow to the front. The procedure is expected to have a two-month recovery process, which should allow him to be ready to go by Spring Training 2025.

Winn last pitched for the Giants on June 20, when he gave up five runs over 2 2/3 innings against the Cardinals at Rickwood Field. The 26-year-old rookie ended up logging a 7.16 ERA over 12 starts in an injury-marred campaign for San Francisco. (Last updated: Aug. 5)

CF (left shoulder dislocation)
Expected return: 2025
Lee suffered a season-ending torn labrum in his left shoulder crashing into the center-field fence on May 12 and had surgery on June 4. The club considered the procedure a success and said the typical timeline for recovery is six months. (Last updated: June 4)
