SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Ángel Pagán suffered a right groin strain during the Giants' 9-5 loss to the Mets on Saturday.
The injury occurred after Pagan chased down a fly ball from Mets shortstop Asdrúbal Cabrera in the top of the third. Pagan left after the bottom of that inning and Grégor Blanco replaced him in left field.
"He's probably going to need a day tomorrow. We think he's going to be OK," said Bochy. "We're being cautious."
The Giants' hope is that Pagan will be ready for Tuesday's series opener against the Dodgers. The outfielder entered Saturday with the longest active hit streak in the Majors, and he extended it to 18 games with an infield single in the bottom of the first.

"He's been so steady," Bochy said of Pagan before Saturday's contest. "It's just been so consistent with him."
Pagan was on the disabled list this season after suffering a left hamstring strain in May. The injury caused him to miss 18 games.
