The San Francisco Giants are determined to end the mental health stigma and bring important conversations about mental wellbeing to the forefront. Through their support of local communities, the Giants provide resources for and facilitate open forums about mental wellness, healthy habits, support resources and more.
Health
Pediatric Cancer
Each season, the Giants host Pediatric Cancer Awareness Night in collaboration with Major League Baseball and Buster and Kristen Posey and BP28. The initiative raises awareness and funds for pioneering pediatric cancer research and treatment while honoring the countless children fighting cancer and their families. On the field, Giants players and coaching staff wear gold ribbon decals and wristbands alongside the umpires and other teams across Major League Baseball.
Lou Gehrig Day
Collectively with MLB, the Giants continue to pay tribute to Lou Gehrig and raise awareness for ALS - hosting Lou Gehrig Day, annually. Throughout Giants history, three Giants players (Barry Zito ‘12, Buster Posey ‘19, Brandon Crawford ‘22) have received the Lou Gehrig Award, which recognizes one MLB player each season for exemplary philanthropic contributions in his community.

Life Threatening Illnesses
Family House San Francisco serves as a home away from home for families of children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses - providing physical and emotional support without financial concern. The Giants continue to make regular team visits to the home, to meet with children and their families and play some baseball.
The Giants continue to collaborate with the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation to fulfill children's wishes and provide nothing like it experiences at Oracle Park.
The Giants continue to team up with Tony’s Pizza to help raise money for George Mark Children’s House through the annual Slice House player seasonal pizzas campaign. George Mark Children’s House remains a leader in pediatric palliative care - focusing on quality of life and continuity of care for children with illnesses that modern healthcare cannot yet cure. Since the campaign’s launch in 2016, $220K+ has been raised.
Until There's A Cure®
In 1994, the Giants teamed up with the Until There’s A Cure® Foundation to become the first professional sports team to host an AIDS benefit game. The Giants repeat the effort every year - having generated $2M+ for HIV and AIDS organizations and international AIDS research. The charitable half of the 50/50 Raffle during the game benefits UTAC, while fans can also visit tabling locations throughout Oracle Park to purchase UTAC bracelets and t-shirts. Proceeds benefited UTAC as well.
