D-Backs Sell Mickolio to Hiroshima Toyo Carp
The Arizona Diamondbacks announced they have sold right-handed pitcher Kam Mickolio to the Hiroshima Toyo Carp of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball League, according to D-backs' Executive Vice President and General Manager Kevin Towers.
Mickolio, 27, appeared in 6 games for the D-backs, posting a 6.75 ERA (5 ER in 6.2 IP) and .357 opponents average with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. In 48 games for the Triple-A Reno Aces, he went 3-4 with 6 saves, a 4.97 ERA (32 ER in 58.0 IP) and a .252 opponents average with 25 walks and 63 strikeouts. Mickolio was acquired along with right-handed pitcher David Hernandez from the Baltimore Orioles for infielder Mark Reynolds on Dec. 6, 2010. Mickolio originally signed with the Seattle Mariners as their 18th-round selection in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.
