Hector Neris and his well-placed leg helped send the Phillies game to extra innings

The Phillies may have lost to the Marlins in the bottom of the 10th, 6-5, thanks to a Dee Gordon RBI single on Monday, but if not for some fortuitous defense, the game would have ended in the ninth. With the bases loaded and two out, Marcell Ozuna lined a pitch back up the middle that struck Héctor Neris' leg. If it got past Neris and up the middle, it would have been a game-winning hit. If it bounced in almost any direction, it probably would have been a hit. Only problem? It bounced almost directly to Tommy Joseph, who was able to tag Ozuna and end the inning.
After the game, manager Pete Mackanin told MLB.com's Patrick Pinack, "I was glad it bounced toward first base, that's what I was glad about. Once I saw where the ball hit off of Neris, emotions were fine because I knew we would get [Ozuna]."<o:p> Of course, this was all part of a night that featured some ... interesting ... Phillies defense. Two innings earlier, Cameron Perkins and Odúbel Herrera both leapt at the wall to rob Giancarlo Stanton of extra bases before ending in a hug.
