Hector Neris interfered with the Marlins' mascot race
The Phillies might have lost to the Marlins on Wednesday, 10-2, but reliever Hector Neris did play a role in one victory. He was sitting in the bullpen while the Marlins' Great Sea Race was going on, and he decided that he wanted to participate.
Neris' decision did not do Angel the stone crab any favors.
Neris ran out and held the stone crab back, which also kept Bob the shark back. Thanks to his meddling, Spike the sea dragon and Julio the octopus surged to the front.
Maybe Neris' enmity toward the stone crab was just related to a bad experience when he was a Minor Leaguer on the Lakewood Blue Claws in 2011. Either way, harsh!
