Vice President, Special Projects
Michael Girsch was named Vice President, Special Projects at the conclusion of the 2024 season.
Girsch previously served as Vice President and General Manager for parts of eight seasons from 2017-24, where he was responsible for handling the day-to-day work of the team, including coordinating the efforts of the team’s baseball development group, contract negotiations, player evaluations and player transactions. Prior to his appointment as GM, Girsch served as Assistant General Manager for seven seasons from 2011-17.
From 2008-11, he served as the Director of Baseball Development, a newly created department focused on supporting Baseball Operations via internet applications, analytical models and decision support tools. Girsch joined the Cardinals in 2006, starting his career with a two year stint as the Coordinator of Amateur Scouting.
Prior to St. Louis, Girsch earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
He and his wife, Kelly, reside in Webster Groves with their four children, twins Addison and Eleanor, Claire and Tommy.
