MILWAUKEE -- It's not quite Babe Ruth calling his shot in the 1932 World Series, but William Fowler will take it.
The Cardinals' leadoff man recorded his first hit of the season in Monday's 8-4 victory, dropping a bloop single into shallow center to drive in Jedd Gyorko to give St. Louis a 2-1 lead. 
"It's a little overblown because it's the beginning of the season," Fowler said. "Everybody in this clubhouse has gone through a stretch like that, but it's good ... especially with an RBI."
Fowler had gone 0-for-13 with six strikeouts through the Cardinals' first three games, but he was feeling confident Monday morning that the streak would end, tweeting out a message that repeated "I will get a hit" 13 times.

"Sometimes, you have to put it out in the universe," Fowler said, noting that it was merely a coincidence that the 13 repetitions in his tweet matched his number of hitless at-bats from the Cardinals' Opening Series.
"Lucky No. 13, I guess," Fowler said.
He extended his slump to 14 at-bats with a flyout to right in the first inning on Monday, but after finally reaching base, his teammates marked the occasion by retrieving the ball.
"Oh yeah," Fowler said. "I got it back."
Seeing Twitter work for Fowler, Astros Josh Reddick, hitless in his first seven at-bats, and Cleveland infielder Jose Ramirez, 0-for-12 on the year, also turned to social media Monday. Reddick went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks, but Ramirez was 0-for-3, though also with two walks.
