Tuesday's top prospect Fall League performers

October 18th, 2023

Here's a look at Tuesday's top performers from the Arizona Fall League.

Braves: Darius Vines, RHP (No. 10), Salt River Rafters
Vines set the tone for Salt River's 5-1 win over Surprise with five innings of one-run ball, racking up nine strikeouts without a walk along the way. He allowed only four hits in one of the most dominant starts of the Fall League to date in his fall debut. More »

Cardinals: Tekoah Roby, RHP (No. 5), Scottsdale Scorpions
It had been a rough first couple of starts in the Fall League for Roby, whom the Cardinals acquired from Texas in the Jordan Montgomery deal at the Trade Deadline this year. But he was much better in his third outing, striking out six over three innings of two-run ball against Salt River. The 22-year-old threw 36 of his 57 pitches for strikes and walked only one.

Cubs: James Triantos, 2B (No. 9), Mesa Solar Sox
Chicago's 2021 second-round pick is scorching hot. He followed up a four-hit performance Monday with another three-hit game, causing havoc out of the leadoff spot for Mesa like he's done all Fall League. He's hitting .474 with a league-leading 1.337 OPS through 10 games in Arizona.

Giants: Reggie Crawford, 1B (No. 8), Scottsdale Scorpions
It was a night of firsts for San Francisco's exciting two-way prospect. Not only did Crawford launch his first homer of the Fall League, but he did it playing first base for the first time as a professional. Previously, Crawford had only DH'd as a pro on days he wasn't pitching. More »

Guardians: Kyle Manzardo, 1B (MLB No. 58), Peoria Javelinas
No player has left the yard this fall more than Manzardo, who swung himself back into sole possession of the Fall League’s home run lead with two more homers in Peoria’s 7-6 loss to Goodyear. Manzardo launched solo homers in the second and fourth innings to give him five total in 10 games. The 23-year-old, whom Cleveland acquired from Tampa Bay for Aaron Civale at the 2023 Trade Deadline, has tallied nine extra-base hits and 13 RBIs so far in the Fall League. More »

Phillies: Gabriel Rincones Jr., OF (No. 9), Scottsdale Scorpions
Philadelphia's ninth-ranked prospect was the star of Scottsdale's win over Mesa, on both sides of the ball. He homered, doubled, drew a walk, stole a base and scored three runs -- and that was before he made the defensive play of the night. Rincones saved at least one run by leaving his feet to corral Miguel Palma's sinking liner in the top of the seventh, ultimately helping secure a contest the Scorpions won by two.

Rockies: Benny Montgomery, OF (No. 8), Salt River Rafters
Earning a place on this list for the second consecutive night, Montgomery homered, doubled and drove in two runs to again make an impact out of the leadoff spot, this time in Salt River's win over Surprise. He is hitting .405 with a 1.308 OPS through 10 games, ranking among the circuit's leaders in hits, hitting and on-base percentage.

Twins: Kala'i Rosario, OF (No. 19), Glendale Desert Dogs
Rosario makes this list for the second straight night, after homering in his second straight game for Glendale. His third big fly of the Fall League was a sixth-inning solo shot that extended the Desert Dogs' lead; he added an RBI single in extra innings and also scored twice.
