Bill Lucas Fellowship
Largely known as the first African American General Manager in Major League Baseball, Bill Lucas laid the foundation for the success of the Atlanta Braves, including the hiring of Hall of Fame Manager Bobby Cox, as well as drafting several key players who led the team to the 1982 Division Championship.
Designed as a legacy platform to continue honoring his contributions to the game, the Bill Lucas Fellowship is a dedicated position in the baseball operations department designed to increase the number of diverse candidates looking for a career in Baseball Ops. General Managers utilize their networks and information to assist in their day-to-day decisions, and through this opportunity, the Braves will provide an overview in a specific area of Baseball Operations, along with additional introductions and exposure to other critical areas in the baseball business.
Program outline:
- Length: 12 Months (May – April)
- Eligible applicant: Undergraduate or Graduate degree in a relevant discipline
