In May 2022, the Atlanta Braves became the first MLB club to enter the metaverse. Powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine technology, Digital Truist Park has given fans the opportunity to experience Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta in an immersive, multiplayer environment streamed directly to their browsers. Within Digital Truist Park, fans have created and customized their own avatars, navigated through the ballpark, participated in games/challenges, met Atlanta Braves players, and more.
In 2024, the organization is aiming even higher, with a plan to increase the volume and scope of events hosted in the venue and increase access for fans. The Braves will blend the physical and digital ballpark experience through a mobile-optimized experience. Not only will this mobilization make the metaverse even more accessible to Braves fans across the world; it will also enable Digital Truist Park to become a regular source of entertainment for fans at the physical ballpark.
This season, Digital Truist Park will host regular visiting hours for users to explore the space and interact with other fans. On gamedays, fans can compete in minigames and search for Easter Eggs that translate to both digital and IRL achievements.
Additionally, Digital Truist Park will be home to exclusive interviews with Braves players, coaches, and personalities.
