CHICAGO -- It appears that Yankees outfielder and designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton has cleared all his physical hurdles and is set to make his return to the Yankees lineup this week.

The 2017 National League MVP Award Winner was in the lineup for Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre on Sunday but will get a scheduled day off on Monday and use it as a travel day. Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Sunday he expects Stanton to be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday’s game against Tampa Bay.

Stanton, who went on the injured list April 1 with a left biceps strain before sustaining a left shoulder strain while rehabbing the first injury, has looked like his old self during his most recent rehab stint, homering five times in five games entering Sunday and giving both the club and fans reason to be excited.

He was 2-for-8 with seven walks and four strikeouts in three games for the Yankees this season before going on the IL.
