Each spring, Play Ball! Minnesota celebrates the start of the youth season by hosting the Play Ball! Minnesota Coaches Conference. Minnesota Twins alumni, members of the Twins front office and Play Ball! Minnesota members lead general and breakout sessions on a variety of timely and pertinent youth baseball and softball topics.
In 1975, a group of Minnesota high school baseball coaches created the Minnesota High School Baseball All-Star Series for the purpose of recognizing the best graduating seniors from the state.
In 2010, the Minnesota Minute Men and Play Ball! Minnesota began honoring the top Minnesota high school senior athlete in baseball and softball. Originally called the Mr. Baseball and Ms. Softball Award, the award was re-named the Play Ball! Minnesota Mr. Baseball and Ms. Softball Award in 2012 to recognize the support from Play Ball! Minnesota.
Established in 2006, the Play Ball! Minnesota Terry Ryan Award honors a member of the Upper Midwest baseball and softball community that has been a major leader at the youth level. The award acknowledges significant promotional contributions, passion, and improvement of the game in the Upper Midwest. Award winners have displayed a serious dedication to the game and its participants.
