Literacy and Education
Impacting Literacy and Education
The Kansas City Royals promote literacy and education and are committed to supporting efforts to increase literacy proficiency rates of students across the Kansas City Metro. Data shows that third grade literacy proficiency is essential to later success in education, employment, and life. We support many different local organizations by supporting different initiatives that align with our pillars, funding, and utilizing our physical structures. Here are some ways the Royals are impacting Literacy and Education in the community.
Grants
Royals Literacy League
The Royals Literacy League is a partnership between The Kansas City Royals, The Kansas City Royals Foundation, the Sherman Family Foundation, SchoolSmartKC, and nine public district and charter schools in Kansas City, Missouri. Literacy rates in the Kansas City region, like much of the national average, are low among third graders. It has been proven that reading at a third-grade level in third grade decreases school dropout and increases test scores, including the ACT. The Royals Literacy League is designed to build excitement and support the students and staff.
