Royalty Fields Program
The Kansas City Royals Foundation Royalty Fields Program
How to Qualify for Royalty Fields
- The program is open to any 501(c)(3) organization or local government entity that operates a youth baseball and/or softball program in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma, or Arkansas.
- The average matching grant awarded is $5,000 to $15,000.
- Organizations must provide documentation that they have secured funding (monetary and/or in-kind support) to receive matching funds.
- Organizations that have not secured funding may apply for a matching funds grant but should expect to receive a Royalty Fields grant award only in the amount that has been raised by the applicant organization (if the application is approved by The Kansas City Royals Foundation.)
Required Documentation
Royalty Fields applications must be submitted using the application form by the deadline posted to be considered for funding. As part of this application, you will be asked to upload the following required documentation:
- Pictures of the field and/or area being renovated
- A list of your program’s board members/government agency’s council members
- A copy of your 501(c)3 IRS designation letter (if applicable)
- Documentation showing the amount of funding secured for this project (not including the Royalty Fields grant request)
How It Works
Once the application is received and reviewed, The Kansas City Royals Foundation may schedule a call with the organization to ask follow-up questions relevant to the grant decision process. In addition, The Kansas City Royals Foundation may schedule a follow-up site visit once funding has been awarded and the project is underway.
Please note that if an application is not received by the deadline listed above, it will only be reviewed if funding is available after timely requests have been considered, and the organization may be asked to resubmit during the next grant cycle.
Matching grants are available for major renovations of baseball and/or softball fields used primarily for youth. Major renovations will include the upgrading of essential baseball field components.

What Happens If Awarded
The Kansas City Royals Foundation requires that a final report be submitted within one year of the date of the original Royalty Fields award. Once your organization's final report is received, your current Royalty Field file will be closed unless a follow-up site visit is necessary. Future Royalty Fields cannot be awarded until all pending final reports are received from your organization. Additionally, grant recipients agree to prominently display provided signage recognizing program supporters and seek local media coverage for field grand opening ceremony.
