SCOTTSDALE – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have acquired outfielder Jake Cave from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for cash considerations.
Cave, 31, has a career .231/.293/.401 slashline with 38 home runs and 139 RBI in 400 Major League games … was originally drafted by the New York Yankees in the sixth round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Kecoughtan High School (Hampton, Va.) … appeared in 65 games last season for Philadelphia, slashing .212/.272/.348 with five home runs and 21 RBI and was a member of the Phillies postseason roster.
To make room on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Germán Márquez was placed on the 60-day injured list.
The Rockies have 36 active players remaining in Major League Spring Training Camp, including seven non-roster players and not including two players on the 60-day injured list (RHPs Germán Máquez and Antonio Senzatela). The Rockies have a full 40-man roster.
