2024 Opening Day & Opening Weekend
The Rockies celebrate home Opening Weekend at Coors Field and McGregor Square on Friday, April 5
DENVER – The Colorado Rockies will celebrate Opening Day at Coors Field on Friday, April 5 against the Tampa Bay Rays. A 2:10 p.m. first pitch will be preceded by Opening Day celebrations at McGregor Square and pregame on-field ceremonies. The two teams will also meet at Coors Field on Saturday, April 6 at 6:10 p.m. and Sunday, April 7 at 1:10 p.m. to complete Opening Weekend in Denver. The Arizona Diamondbacks will cap the Rockies’ opening homestand with three games at Coors Field Monday, April 8-Wednesday, April 10.
For easiest entry on Opening Day, fans are strongly encouraged to arrive at least one hour early and plan to be in their seats by 1:15 p.m. as Opening Day pregame ceremonies begin promptly at 1:30 p.m.
Opening Day Event Timeline
7 a.m. - The O.G. at McGregor Square opens
8:30 a.m. - Tom’s Watch Bar at McGregor Square opens
9 a.m. - Opening Day festivities presented by Coors Light begins at McGregor Square, featuring games and activities for all ages
- Mile Post Zero at McGregor Square opens
- Coors Field parking lots open
10 a.m. - Live DJ at McGregor Square
11:15 a.m. - Rockies Batting Practice
12 p.m. - All gates open
- 2024 Magnet Schedule Giveaway presented by Arrow Electronics
12:20 p.m. - Rays Batting Practice
1:30 p.m. - Pregame Ceremonies begin
- First pitch by Rockies Season Ticket Holder Steve Katich: Steve has been a Rockies season ticket holder since 1993, and was the Founder and Executive Director of the Denver Baseball Commission from 1983-90.
- First pitch by A Precious Child’s Angelica Bedolla (age 9), presented by Arrow Electronics: A Precious Child provides children in need with opportunities and resources to empower them to achieve their full potential. The organization helps children and families meet basic needs and also provides assistance to help connect families with needed resources, services, opportunities and educational support.
- First pitch by Sergeant Justin Dodge: Sgt. Justin Dodge is a 27-year veteran of the Denver Police Department. During the Denver Nugget’s celebration parade in June, Sgt. Dodge was in a tragic accident that nearly took his life and resulted in the loss of his leg. Sgt. Dodge has recently been cleared to return to work and continue as a Sergeant with the SWAT team he has been dedicated to for the last 19 years.
- Introductions of the Tamp Bay Rays and Colorado Rockies
- Presentation of center field flag by U.S. Armed Services Honor Guard and local first responders
- National anthem performed by Technical Sergeant Matthew Booker, accompanied by fireworks
- Planned flyover conducted by the F-16 Fighting Falcons, flown by pilots of the 140th Wing, Colorado Air National Guard out of Buckley Space Force Base
- Brenton Doyle 2023 Rawlings Gold Glove Presentation
2:08 p.m. - Rockies take the field, accompanied by fireworks
2:10 p.m. - Play ball!
7th Inning Stretch - Hero of the Game honoree, Technical Sergeant Preston Hollings and “God Bless America” performed by Sergeant Matthew Booker, accompanied by fireworks
Mid-8th Break - Flyover pilots and staff recognition
4:30 p.m. - Live DJ at McGregor Square

- CLEAR members can enter through a dedicated lane located at Gate C. In addition, fans can enroll for CLEAR stadium access at Gate C free of charge for use of the lane on Opening Day and throughout the season.
- Only single-pocket, medical and diaper bags that are no larger than 16”x16”x8” can be brought into the ballpark. Backpacks and other multi-pocket bags, including multi-pocket purses, are NOT permitted. All permitted bags will be subject to search.
- Coors Field is a cashless facility.
