Team to watch
High-A Hudson Valley features the Yankees' best position prospect and the three best pitching prospects who are starting the season in the Minors. George Lombard Jr. is a quality defender at shortstop with the potential for solid tools across the board. Ben Hess (first round) and Bryce Cunningham (second) were New York's top two picks in the 2024 Draft, while fellow righty Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz arrived from the Red Sox along with some international bonus pool money in a trade for catcher Carlos Narváez in December. Righty Carlos Lagrange has an upper-90s fastball and a hard sweeper, and he looks poised for a breakout after working four strong innings in a Spring Breakout game against the Orioles.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A)
Somerset Patriots (Double-A)
Hudson Valley Renegades (High-A)
Tampa Tarpons (Yankees)

Players we could see in MLB in 2025
With a mid-90s fastball and tight low-80s slider, right-hander Eric Reyzelman could become an interesting bullpen weapon in New York. Outfielder Everson Pereira and second baseman Jorbit Vivas are more depth pieces.

New faces
Four of the Yankees' top six 2024 Draft selections will make their pro debuts in April: Hess, Cunningham, right-hander Gage Ziehl (fourth round) and left-hander Griffin Herring (sixth). Rodriguez-Cruz will make his first appearance in the organization as well. Shortstop Mani Cedeno, New York's top 2025 international signee ($2.5 million out of the Dominican Republic), will break into pro ball in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League in June.

On the shelf
Right-hander Clayton Beeter was expected to make the big league bullpen until a shoulder impingement landed him on New York's 15-day injured list. Righties Chase Hampton and Thatcher Hurd will miss the entire season after having Tommy John surgery in February. Left-hander Henry Lalane is on the Minor League 60-day IL as he recovers from an offseason shoulder operation. After shoulder issues ended his 2024 season three weeks early, righty Cade Smith is dealing with them again. Lefty Brock Selvidge (biceps inflammation), righty Trystan Vrieling (hip) and Roc Riggio (hand) should return to action before too long.
