Rockies recall INF Charlie Culberson from Colorado Springs

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled infielder Charlie Culberson from Triple-A Colorado Springs. To make room on the active roster for Culberson, the club has optioned infielder Jordan Pacheco. Culberson (#23) will be available for tonight's game against the Atlanta Braves (5:10 p.m. MDT) at Turner Field.

Culberson, 24, joins the Rockies after spending the entire season at Triple-A Colorado Springs. He batted .310 (123-for-397) with 27 doubles, 8 triples, 14 home runs, 64 RBI and 63 runs in 97 games for the Sky Sox. In his last 18 games, he is hitting .415 (34-for-82) with 11 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs, 17 RBI and 21 runs. Originally drafted by the Giants (51st overall) in the 2007 draft, he was acquired on July 27, 2012 for infielder Marco Scutaro. The Rome, GA native has played in six Major League games, going 3-for-22 with 1 RBI.

Pacheco, 27, was part of Colorado's Opening Day roster. In 69 games this year for the Rockies, he has batted .229 (43-for-188) with 10 doubles, 1 home run, 17 RBI and 19 runs. He has seen game action at catcher (2 games), left field (1 game) and first base (40 games/37 starts). Pacheco is a career .286 (214-for-747) Major League hitter with 43 doubles, 3 triples, 8 home runs, 85 RBI and 75 runs in 222 games.

The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
