Teddy Gutman

Teddy Gutman joined the Jackie Robinson Training Complex staff in August 2022 as the Grounds Manager. He is responsible for the maintenance and oversight of all athletic fields, landscaping and common areas.

Teddy was born and raised in Burlington, Iowa. He developed a passion for the game of baseball and the outdoors chasing foul balls outside the former Burlington Bees stadium Community Field. His passion and talent for the game of baseball allowed him the opportunity to play two years at Southwestern CC in Creston, Iowa, then transferring to compete two years at University of Minnesota, Crookston. While at University of Minnesota, Crookston, he earned his Bachelors degree in Turf Management as well as Horticulture.

Teddy gained valuable experience as an intern working for the Burlington Bees in 2009. After also working in the golf course industry for four years from 2010-14, he returned to the sports turf industry in 2015 and 2016 as a grounds crew member of the Baltimore Orioles. His career continued from 2017-22 at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches. Spring Training home of the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals. He started as Field Operations Foreman eventually working his way up to Assistant Director, Field Operations.

Teddy enjoys spending time with his wife and their son, Theo.
