1989

For the second time in the decade, Fenway Park's upper level was given a makeover. The Red Sox gutted the old press box after the 1988 season and built a new premium club with a new press box above it. In the 1980's, the club also officially retired numbers for the first time and installed a red seat in the bleachers to commemorate Ted Williams' 502-foot home run that he hit in 1946.
