We've all seen some nasty pitches over the years. But what Rays reliever Chaz Roe did in Friday's 1-0 Tampa Bay victory over the Yankees at Tropicana Field will be tough to top.

With one out in the top of the eighth inning, Major League home run leader Aaron Judge stepped to the plate with the tying run on first base. On a 1-2 count, Roe unleashed a slider that broke low and away from Judge with a horizontal break measured by Statcast as 24 inches.

Yes, you read that correctly. Two full feet of horizontal break.

Roe averaged 22.8 inches of horizontal break on his slider last season, according to Statcast. That was the most horizontal slider break of any pitcher in baseball. 

And imitation is the sincerest form flattery -- Athletics left-hander Jake Diekman saw a Rob Friedman (aka "Pitching Ninja") tweet showing Roe's incredible sweeping slider, and decided to try it. He has already doubled the horizontal break on his own slider over last season, and it's paying off -- Diekman hasn't given up a run yet this season.
