Opened in December 2017, the Texas Rangers MLB Youth Academy at Mercy Street Sports Complex, presented by Toyota, is an extension of Major League Baseball’s not-for-profit Urban Youth Academy programs.
The Texas Rangers Youth Academy is one of 11 Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academies across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Located in West Dallas, the Youth Academy provides free year-round baseball and softball instruction to athletes ages 7-18, summer ball for athletes ages 13-18 through Major League Baseball’s Nike RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) League, and dozens of development opportunities for its athletes.
The Rangers Youth Academy also focuses on creating Major League Citizens off the field. With help from non-profit partner Buckner International, athletes have access to extensive educational programming, out-of-school school activities, and adult classes offered in Spanish and English. Additionally, Buckner and the Youth Academy support families across the community through special events like school supply and equipment donations, Thanksgiving meal distributions and holiday celebrations.
