Appeared in just four games for the Dodgers before needing season-ending shoulder surgery...missed 137 contests of the 162-game season due to injury...spent April and most of May recovering from Tommy John surgery, which was performed on April 18, 2006...pitched in 14 minor league games for Single-A Inland Empire and Triple-A Las Vegas, posting a combined 2.00 ERA and three saves with 19 strikeouts in 18.0 innings...activated from the disabled list and returned to the mound on May 23 vs. Milwaukee and pitched one scoreless inning, striking out the side while walking one batter While pitching on May 31 at Washington, injured his right shoulder and was required to have arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn labrum...the procedure took place on June 22 and was performed by Dr. Neal El Attrache...threw off a mound for the first time after the surgery on Sept. 12 and is expected to be ready for Spring Training in 2008.
2006
Made five appearances and posted a 5.40 ERA before going on the disabled list on April 14 with a strained right elbow that would require season-ending Tommy John surgery. Threw 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief vs. Atlanta on April 3, allowing just one hit and a walk. Transferred to the 60-day disabled list on May 6 to make room on the roster for right-hander Aaron Sele. Went 0-1 with a 5.23 ERA in 10 games (10 1/3 innings) during Spring Training.

Established new Dodger rookie records by appearing in 74 games and recording 21 saves ... Broke the previous games pitched mark of 67 set by Duaner Sanchez in 2004...with 17 saves in 1980, Steve Howe held the previous Dodger rookie saves record ... His 21 saves led National League rookies and ranked second among Major League rookies behind Oakland's Huston Street (23) ... Was third among National League rookies in games pitched and fourth in the Majors ... Ranked 10th among NL rookies in strikeouts ... Converted 21 of 27 save opportunities...was 21 of 24 in save chances while in the closer's role ... Started the season as the closer in place of the injured Eric Gagné and was successful in 11 of 12 chances, including 10 consecutive opportunities from April 13-May 13...returned to the set-up role when Gagné returned on May 14 ... Returned to the closer's role on June 15 when Gagné went back on the disabled list on June 15...stayed in that role until mid-August ... Counting his 31 games pitched in 2004 and the 74 he pitched in 2005, made 105 appearances while qualifying as a rookie, which is the third most in Major League history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau...the top mark is shared by Terry Forster and Dan Quisenberry, who pitched 107 games each as rookies in the 1970s ... Posted a 2.30 ERA (12 ER/47.0 IP) in games in which he did not walk a batter, holding opponents to a .171 average and converting 18 of 19 save opportunities ... In first save opportunity of big league career, retired side in order in ninth inning at Arizona on April 8 ... Preserved club's 1-0 win at Philadelphia on July 21 by pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning, marking his 17th save of the season, which tied Steve Howe's franchise rookie mark ... Broke Dodger rookie record for saves the following night at the New York Mets, registering his 18th rescue with a perfect ninth inning ... Snapped a personal eight-game losing streak by garnering his third victory of the season on Sept. 6 with a scoreless 10th inning ... Pitched season-high 3.0 innings on Sept. 22 at Arizona, allowing no runs, one hit and a walk with three strikeouts ... Led the Dominican Winter League with 14 saves while pitching for Licey...in 22 games, went 3-2 with a 1.64 ERA (4 ER/22.0 IP) while fanning 21 batters and walking just six.

Pitched at three different levels for the Dodgers, reaching the Major Leagues on July 31...during his rookie campaign with the Dodgers, appeared out of the bullpen 31 times, compiling a 6-2 record and 2.48 ERA, allowing 25 hits and 15 walks while striking out 27 batters in 32.2 innings...limited opposing hitters to a .219 average (25-for-114)...earned five victories in the team's final 14 games...received consideration for National League Rookie of the Month honors in both August and September...tossed 13.0 consecutive scoreless innings over 11 outings from Aug. 12-Sept. 2, giving up nine hits and four walks and recording 14 strikeouts...was scored upon in just five of his 31 games...pitched career-high 2.0 innings on four occasions...made his Major League debut on Aug. 5 in club's 8-3 win vs. Pittsburgh and hurled 1.0 inning, retiring the side in order in the eighth...pitched 1-2-3 ninth inning to close out club's 8-1 victory on Aug. 13 at Chicago...matched season high by tossing 2.0 shutout innings in club's 4-1, 13- inning victory at Arizona on Aug. 31...picked up first Major League win on Sept. 2 at Arizona, pitching 2.0 innings, allowing one run, three hits and no walks with a career-high four strikeouts...over nine appearances from Sept. 4-17, pitched 8.0 scoreless innings, yielding seven hits and three walks while striking out seven batters...threw 2.0 shutout innings, surrendering a hit and a walk, to earn his third win on Sept. 23 at San Diego...recorded final out of ninth inning on Sept. 27 vs. Colorado and earned the victory when the Dodgers rallied in the bottom of the frame to win, 8-7...tossed 1.0 scoreless inning on Sept. 30 vs. Colorado to post the victory as the Dodgers won in 11 innings, 5-4...was the winning hurler in the Dodgers' Western Division title-clincher vs. San Francisco on Oct. 2, pitching a scoreless ninth inning...appeared in two games for the Dodgers in the National League Division Series against St. Louis and allowed one earned run in 3.0 innings while striking out two batters...started season at Double-A Jacksonville and made 37 appearances for the Suns, going 4- 4 with 13 saves and a 2.65 ERA, giving up 38 hits and 22 walks with 61 strikeouts in 51.0 innings...was 2-0 with five saves and a 1.88 ERA in 10 April outings to be named Dodger Minor League Pitcher of the Month...also won the Southern League's Rolaids Relief Man competition for April...was selected to pitch in the Southern League All-Star Game, but was replaced on the Eastern Division squad after he was elevated to Triple-A Las Vegas on July 5...in 10 outings for the 51s, was 2-0 with one save and a 2.19 ERA, giving up 14 hits and just one walk with 17 strikeouts in 12.1 innings...appeared in 23 games for Licey in the Dominican Winter League.

Became a full-time pitcher after being converted from an outfielder...pitching at three different minor league levels, combined for a 2-4 record and 18 saves in 47 relief appearances...with Single-A Tampa, had a 2.83 ERA and 15 saves...posted nine of those saves in May...played for Licey of the Dominican Winter League.
