Timothy Andrew Drew...attended Lowndes County High School in Valdosta, Ga...threw a no-hitter during every season of his high school career...is the younger brother of J.D. Drew and older brother of Diamondbacks top pick Stephen Drew...the Drews are the first trio of brothers to all be selected in the first round of the MLB draft (J.D. in 1997 and '98, Tim in 1997 and Stephen in 2004)...in 1997, Tim and J.D. became the first-ever brother tandem to he chosen in the first round of the same draft...signed by Mark Germann.
2004
Opened the season at Richmond (AAA) where he appeared in 18 games, the last 13 as a starter...had his contract purchased by the Braves on July 1 and went on to make 11 relief appearances for the NL East champions...posted a 0-0 record with a 4.50 ERA in 16.0 innings for Atlanta...retired nine of his first 11 batters faced in a Braves uniform...pitched a season-high 3.1 innings on Aug. 17 at San Diego, allowing 6 runs on 9 hits...spent almost three weeks on the disabled list from Aug. 18-Sept. 3 due to a strained left calf...returned to Richmond for a rehab appearance on Aug. 31 before being activated...in 19 games overall (13 starts) with Richmond, Drew was 4-5 with a 3.31 ERA and 1 save...posted a 1.13 ERA in his six relief outings (8.0 ip, 1 er)...was left off the Braves' postseason roster.
1997
Made five starts between Burlington and Watertown after signing his first pro contract on July 27.
1998
In 1998, split the season between Columbus and Kinston and was named to the South Atlantic League All-Star Game... Was promoted to Kinston on June 18... Ranked by Baseball America as the 7th best prospect in the Cleveland organization... Combined on the year, was 7-11, 4.57 ERA in 28 starts.
1999
In 1999, spent the season at A-Kinston and led the Caroline League in wins (13) and starts (28), was second in innings (169) and 7th in ERA (3.73)...Went 5-0 over his last seven starts with a 1.01 ERA... Did not allow a home run over his last 59.2 innings.
2000
Split the season between AA-Akron and AAA-Buffalo and got his first taste of the big leagues with a three-start audition in June and July...A spring training invitee, was assigned to Akron and made nine starts prior to having his contract selected by Cleveland on May 19 to make a start at Detroit on May 24; was not involved in the decision in the 10-9 Tigers' win after not retiring a batter in the 2nd inning... Optioned to Buffalo on May 25 where he spent the next seven weeks before being promoted back on July 17 for a start against Hou...Picked up his first ML win in that start pitching 5.0 innings of 3-hit ball... Made his third start at Min. on July 22 and was optioned to Buffalo on July 29 for the remainder of the season... Tossed a 9.0 inning complete game vs Rochester on September 4 fanning eight batters... Tabbed as the Indians' organization 8th best prospect by Baseball America.
2001
Opened the season on the Opening Day roster in the fifth spot in the starting rotation after winning the job in spring training...Made his first start on April 10 at Chi. and got a ND...Made second start on 10-day rest April 21 vs Det. working a career-high 7.0 IP yielding just four hits...Suffered first career loss on April 27 vs Tex. allowing 6 runs in 3.0+ IP...Was optioned to AAA-Buffalo on May 12 with a 0-1 record, 6.75 ERA in five starts...Spent two months with the Bisons before being recalled on August 1...Was 6-3, 3.93 ERA in 13 starts in the International League...Made one relief appearance on August 2 vs Oakland during his second stint and was optioned to Buffalo on August 3...Was recalled for a third time on September 1; was optioned to AAA after the game and made a winning playoff start for Buffalo on September 6 in Game 3...Was recalled for a fourth and final time on September 10 and made one start at Toronto on October 6 as he was tagged with his second loss... The Indians were 3-3 over his six starts...Worked the 6th & 7th inning in one of his starts and at least 5.0 innings once.
2002
Drew made his National League debut in the 2002 season, being promoted to the Expos as a September call-up from AAA-Ottawa...Montreal marked his third team of the year, as he had also played for the Lynx and the AAA-Buffalo Bisons (Cleveland)...Pitched in seven games for the Expos, including a start on Sept. 29, the final day of the season (win, 5.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 6 K)...Made his Expo debut with 3.2 scoreless IP in Atlanta on Sept. 7...Gave up his only HR of the season Sept. 25 vs. Florida to Ramon Castro...Picked up two saves with the Expos - his first saves in his major-league career on Sept. 18 and 19 at Florida...Went a combined 14-7 with a 3.08 ERA (62 ER-181.0 IP) in 28 starts in the minor leagues...Led the IL with 181.0 IP, tied for 2nd with 14 wins and was 7th with a 3.08 ERA...Was 6-3 with a 2.87 ERA (27 ER-84.2 IP) in 13 starts with the Lynx after being acquired by the Expos' organization... Won eight straight starts with Buffalo May 11-June 16 with a 1.68 ERA (11 ER/59.0 IP)...Also won six of his final seven decisions with Ottawa July 27-August 28 after dropping his first two starts with the Lynx.
2003
Had his contract purchased by Montreal from AAA Edmonton June 26...Made one start for the Expos, allowing 5 earned runs in 4.2 innings of work, walking 5 and striking out 3, July 6 at Atl...Worked scoreless relief in 3 of 5 appearances out of the bullpen...Was outrighted to Edmonton on July 26.
