Began the 1998 season at Class-A St. Lucie before joining the Capital City Bombers (A) on June 4...Pitched to a 2.61 ERA (IP-48.1, ER-14) in 20 games with Cap City...Did not allow an earned run in six consecutive games July 21-Aug. 12 (18.1 IP, 13 H, 2 R, 6 BB, 14 SO), notching two wins and a pair of saves...Appeared in 4 games with the Mets of the Florida State League with no record and an 8.22 ERA before his promotion.

1999

Pitched to a career-best 0.44 ERA with Capital City (A) in 1999...Appeared in 40 games, 3 starts, with the Bombers and struck out a career-high 89 batters...Fanned at least one batter in 38 of 40 appearances and averaged 10.68 K/9.0 IP...Struck out a career-high 6 in 3.0 innings of relief July 31 at Cape Fear (Expos)...Held opponents to a .225 average and was especially stingy to righties keeping them at a .199 batting average; opponents hit a mere .120 in April (3-25, 7 G).

2000

Began the 2000 season on the DL with a strained groin...Returned to Capital City (A) of the South Atlantic League Apr 21...Allowed just 3 ER in his first 11 appearances (15.2 IP), a 1.72 ERA...Held left-handed hitters to a .169 average (11-56)... Selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the minor league phase of the Rule V Draft on Dec. 11, 2000.

2001

Made his debut with the Orioles organization in 2001 playing with Frederick (A) and Bowie (AA)...Allowed just 4 hits and 1 run in 7 appearances (0.77 ERA) with Bowie before he was shut down on Aug. 20 for the remainder of the season due to right shoulder tendinitis.

2002

Appeared in 35 games with Double-A Bowie during the 2002 season despite missing the entire month of June with a strained right biceps muscle...Returned from the injury July 2 and pitched to a 1.50 ERA (IP-24.0, ER-4) over his final 17 outings of the year including a streak of 10 straight games in which he did not allow an earned run July 2-Aug. 4 (18.1 IP, 3 R)...Had allowed 16 earned runs in 18 games (5.76 ERA) before he landed on the DL.

2003

Split the 2003 season between Frederick (A) and Bowie (AA) appearing in a career-high 48 games...Was a combined 6-6 with a 4.95 ERA (IP-91.0, ER-50)...Did not give up a run in his first 4 outings with the Double-A Baysox including a 4.0-inning shutout relief performance May 7 at Erie (Tigers)...Made 3 starts with Frederick, his first action as a starter since 1999...Surrendered 7 hits and 6 runs in 1.1 innings of work in the 3rd inning Aug. 3 vs. New Britain (Twins)...The 14 runs and 13 hits allowed by Baysox pitching in the 3rd frame was a franchise high as well as the 26 total hits in the game by the visiting Rock Cats...Selected by Tampa Bay in the AAA Phase of the Rule V Draft on Dec. 15, 2003.

2004

Was a combined 3-4, 3.63 ERA with Durham (AAA) and Montgomery (AA) in his first season with the Tampa Bay organization... Closed out the year with 3 straight perfect outings and allowed just 3 ER over his final 9 appearances (10.1 IP)...Allowed a solo home run in 3 consecutive games July 4-9...Had surrendered only 3 HR the entire year previous to that...Did not allow another homer the remainder of the season...Had his best month in June when he allowed just 6 ER in 20.0 IP, a 2.70 ERA, and held opponents to a .194 average (13-67)...Tossed a career-high 5.0 innings of relief June 3 against Norfolk (Mets) 1 R/ER, 3 H, 4 BB, 2K...Began the year with the Bulls allowing 4 runs in as many games...Transferred to Montgomery on May 5...Promoted back to Durham May 29...Appeared in 6 games, 2 starts, at Montgomery with a 2.76 ERA (16.1 IP, 5 ER)...Made back-to-back starts May 15 and 20 with the Biscuits...Tossed 4.0 shutout innings in his first start (2 H, 3 K) then allowed 3 runs in 4.0 innings in the second start (BB, 5 K, 2 HR).
