2015
Made his first career Opening Day roster...Spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Round Rock, recording five saves and posting a 2.78 ERA in 30 relief appearances...Finished 15 games for the Express...Posted a 1.12 WHIP with Round Rock...Held right-handed batters to a .176 AVG (12-for-68)... Was claimed off waivers by Boston on Sept. 11...Made three appearances for the Red Sox.

Called to the big leagues for the first time in early July, Mendez was one of the Rangers' most effective relievers over the final 3 months...entering the year, had never pitched above Double-A.
2013
Went 2-0 with 2 saves and a 1.82 ERA (5 ER/24.2 IP) in 16 relief appearances with 24 strikeouts against 11 walks in an injury-shortened season…was placed on the Frisco disabled list on May 30 after undergoing surgery to treat a stress fracture in his right elbow and missed the rest of the season…the surgery was performed on May 31 by Rangers Team Physician Dr. Keith Meister at the Medical Center of Arlington … opponents hit .146 (12-82), though 8 of 12 hits were XBH (7 2B, HR)…right-handed batters hit .145 (8-55) while lefties batted .148 (4-27)…strikeouts in 14 of 16 appearances, multiple K's in 9…tossed at least 2.0 innings in 7 games…did not concede an earned run over his first 9 appearances of the season (15.1 IP), with 14 strikeouts, 5 walks, and 5 hits during the streak…streak ended when he gave up his only home run of the season to Domingo Santana, Santana's 3rd of the game, on May 10 at Corpus Christi… allowed runs in 3 of 16 games, including season-high 4 R/ER in 1.0 inning on May 22 at Springfield…was 2-0 with one save, a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/12.1 IP), and .079 (3-38) opponents' average in 8 home appearances … was rated by Baseball America as the top right-handed reliever and the no. 13 prospect in the Texas system entering the season.

Rangers, and Frisco (AA)...combined to go 6-7 with a 4.43 ERA

starts...was 3-0 with a 1.48 ERA (4 ER/24.1 IP) as a reliever and

at Salem...on disabled list June 4-July 19 with elbow strain...
