Full name PAUL ANTHONY PHILLIPS...Wife, Jimmi...Resides in Nashville, TN...Paul attended University of Alabama and Meridian Community College...Was teammate with first cousin, Andy, on Crimson Tide, who is currently playing in Japan and logged time in the big leagues with the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox... Is a 1995 graduate of West Lauderdale (Miss.) High School.
2010
Spent most of the season at Triple-A Colorado Springs and had two stints at the big league level with the Colorado Rockies...Has appeared in the Majors in each of the last six seasons (2004-09) after spending each of his first 10 professional seasons in the Kansas City organization after being selected in the 9th round of the 1998 June draft...Was with the Rockies from April 27-May 24, switching roster spots with CA Chris Iannetta both times...Was also recalled to end the season on September 7 and spent the remainder of the season with the Rockies...Made 5 starts for Colorado (at CA) and appeared in 12 games...Overall appeared in 33 games at catcher for Colorado Springs (1GS at DH) and threw out 15 of 45 runners (33%) attempting to steal off him...Was in a back-up role at Triple-A as well and the most plate app's he received for a month for the season was June (36)...Was 8 for 25 (.320) in August with 5 RBI and 7 walks in 8 games (.485OB%)...Hit .283 (15-53) with runners on base.
2009
Posted his highest season batting avg. (.311) in limited time with the Rockies during the months of May, June, July, September and one game in October...a non-roster invitee to Rox Major League Spring Training, Phillips was hitting .317 (19-for- 60) with 5 doubles, 2 triples and 8 RBI at Triple-A Colorado Springs when his contract was purchased on May 24 (Iannetta on 15-day DL)...singled as a pinchhitter in first AB with COL on on May 25 at (marked his first MLB hit since 5/20/07)...on June 8 at St. Louis, recorded career-high 4 hits including 3 RBI and first HR since 9/29/06...Phillips was designated for assignment on July 1, when Yorvit Torrealba was reinstated from the restricted list...the roster move was made after he started the game at catcher against the Dodgers and went 0-for-2 with a walk, snapping his career-best hitting streak at 7 games...in his first stint with the club, Phillips made 13 starts at catcher, and the Rockies went 9-4 in his starts...on July 6, he was outrighted to the Minor Leagues and rejoined the Triple-A Sky Sox...the club purchased his contract again on Sept. 1 and he appeared in 4 games through the end of the season, making no starts in that span...overall Phillips drew 7 walks and struck out 3 times in a Rockies uniform... he went 2-for-2 as a pinch-hitter and hit .308 at Coors Field...11 of his 14 hits were logged in June and 6 of the 11 hits were vs. St. Louis...defensively, he appeared in 15 games at catcher (12 starts)...he made one error and had 2 passed balls...on the bases, he threw out just one of 17 attempted base stealers (5.9 pct.)...caught all 11 innings in 3-2 loss, June 2 at Houston.

Hit .269 (68-253) with 15 doubles, 2 home runs and 17 RBI in 73 games with Triple-A Charlotte, his first season in the White Sox organization...threw out 29.5 percent (23-for-78) of attempted basestealers with the Knights...batted .213 (10-for-47) in April, but rebounded to hit .348 (24-for-69) in May and .306 (19-for-62) in June...had his contract purchased from Charlotte on 9/1...appeared in four games with the White Sox...was a non-roster invitee to Spring Training.
2007
Began the season at Omaha, struggling early but turning it on after the All-Star break to hit .238... had his contract purchased from Omaha on May 11 and appeared in 5 games for the Royals before being designated for assignment on May 26...KC won both of his starts in his first stint...Had his contract purchased from Omaha on Sept. 4 and appeared in 8 games for the Royals, hitting .143 (2-for-14) with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
2006
Hit .277 (18-65) with 3 doubles, 1 home run and 5 RBI in 23 games for the Royals...was 12-for-43 (.279) with 2 doubles, 1 homer and 4 RBI in his 2nd tour (15 games) after being recalled on Sept. 5...According to STATS, LLC., combined with Paul Bako to mark the 1st time in Major League history that 2 players with the first name of Paul caught at least 1 game for a team...Recalled from Omaha on July 8...made his 1st appearance of 2006 with a pinch-hit double in the 9th inning July 15...earned his 1st start July 16 going 1-for-5 with an RBI...was optioned back to Omaha on Aug 2 after going 6-for-22 with 1 RBI in 8 games...was recalled from Omaha on Sept. 5...Threw out 4 of 9 runners attempting to steal...is 10-for-19 in his career, throwing out 52.6 percent of attempted basestealers...that mark is tops among catchers with at least 10 caught stealings since the stat was kept in 1987...Hit .304 (7-23) against left-handers...hit .346 (9-26) with runners on and .400 (6-15) with runners in scoring position...Ended the season hitting in 6 straight (.296, 8-27)...hit safely in 9 of his last 10 starts...Hit .243 in 91 games for Omaha, going 84-for-345 with 11 doubles, 1 triple, 9 homers and 39 RBI and was named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team... committed 10 errors on the season...played 3 games at 1st base.

Played in 23 games for KC, hitting .269 (18-67) with a home run and 9 RBI...Spent the majority of the season at Omaha (AAA) until he was recalled on Aug. 6, replacing Alberto Castillo on the active roster...hit .268 with 7 HR and 42 RBI in 87 games with Omaha...Became the 1st Royal in club history to hit a grand slam for his 1st career home run on Aug. 17 in the 9th inning of an 11-5 loss at Seattle...Hit just .150 (3-20) in his 1st 7 games, but hit .319 (15-47) in his final 16 games of the season...hit safely in 4 straight games from Sept. 20-28, going 7-for-14 (.500) with 3 doubles and 3 RBI...Saw average drop from .286 to .269, going 0-for-4 on the last day of the season.
2004
Spent most of the season with Omaha (AAA)...batted .312 with 6 homers and 41 RBI in 86 games...batted .349 (61- 175) from July 1 on for the O-Royals...Had his contract purchased from Omaha on Sept. 8...Made his Major League debut in the 1st game of a doubleheader at Detroit on Sept. 9...entered as a defensive replacement and notched his 1st Major League hit off the 1st pitch he saw from John Ennis...later scored his 1st big league run in the same inning...Made his 1st big league start vs. Cleveland on Sept. 28, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout.
2003
Phillips was named the top prospect of 1998 in the Northwest League but his promising career was derailed by right elbow problems. He missed most of the previous three seasons but returned to hit well for Omaha this season. Since July 1, he batted .353 with five homers and 26 RBIs.
