Cornejo pitched and won Detroit's home opener against Minnesota, then went winless in his next four starts. He was briefly pulled out of the rotation before an examination from Dr. Lewis Yocum revealed inflammation in his right shoulder. He eventually was diagnosed with a frayed right labrum and underwent season-ending shoulder surgery.

- Off days necessitated two outings at Toledo in April, as he worked in relief and had one start on April 10 and 15, respectively, for the Mud Hens...fired two scoreless innings of relief on April 10 versus Norfolk...did not figure in the decision in his start on April 15 at Norfolk after allowing just two runs on six hits in six innings.
