Robert Michael Aubrey...graduated from Southwood (LA) High in 2000...was Louisiana Player of the Year as a senior... attended Tulane University...batted .420 with 70 runs, 20 doubles, 18 homers, 79 RBI and 19 stolen bags in 63 games as a junior, and was named Conference USA Player of the Year and was a Golden Spikes Award finalist...pitched for the Green Wave during frosh and sophomore seasons, going a combined 11-2 with a 4.83 ERA in 28 games/23 starts... was a long-time member of USA Baseball and was named the organization's Amateur Athlete of the Year in 2002 after leading National Team in batting (.405), home runs (6) and RBI (26) in 29 games...played for the National Team in 2001 and '02...was member of Jr. National Team in 2000.

Hit team-leading 22 home runs for Norfolk of the Triple-A International League...among IL hitters, ranked 5th in home runs and 7th with .495 slugging percentage...for period ending July 25, was named IL Hitter of the Week (.304, 5 homers, 16 RBI).

Enjoyed success between AA Akron and AAA Buffalo and enjoyed his first taste of big league action over a pair of stints with the Indians in May and September...Began the year at AA Akron where he hit .277 (28-101) with 9 2B, 2HR & 16RBI in 24 games before being promoted to AAA Buffalo on May 2...Hit .281 (80-285) w/18 2B, 7HR & 37RBI in 72 games for the Bisons...Was promoted to Cleveland for the first time on May 17 and at the time of his first recall he was hitting .341 (15-44) w/4 2B & 5RBI in 11 games after joining Buffalo...Made his Major League debut that night in Cincinnati... Collected his first Major League hit, home run and RBI the next day w/a line shot HR to RF off Edinson Volquez in his first ML start...Also homered in his 2nd start on May 21 at Chicago (Vazquez)...Optioned back to AAA Buffalo on June 2 and spent the remainder of the minor league season in Buffalo...Had several 9 game hitting streaks on the year with his best month coming in July (.305, 22G, 29-95, 6 2B, 3HR, 15RBI, .819OPS)...On the year at Buffalo he hit .285 (53-186) off RHP w/5HR & 24RBI and .273 (27-99) off LHP w/2HR & 13RBI...Hit .298 (37-124) with runners on base and .319 (22-69) w/RISP (.393, 11-28 w/RISP and 2 outs)... Right hamstring trouble shelved him for the first month and a half of the season...Was placed on the Akron disabled list on 4/5 and was reinstated and transferred to Kinston on May 21...Hit .400 (20-50) with 5 HR, 5-2B, 11 RBI, 15 R, .492 OBP and .800 SLG in 13 games for the K-Tribe before returning to the Aeros on June 9... Belted 2 HR on June 6 at Wilmington in his final game with Kinston, going 3-3 with a BB, 3 RBI & 3 R...Was transferred to Akron on June 9 ...Remained in Akron for the balance of the season, sidelined only briefly (DL; August 14-22) by a left abdominal strain...Hit .345 (20-58) in the month of August, .291 (23-79) as a designated hitter and .279 (31-111) after the All-Star break...Joined the AFL's Surprise Rafters following the season and hit .275 (25-91) with 6-2B, 5 HR & 11 RBI in 24 games (.858 OPS).
2006
Has played a combined 42 games the last two seasons due to various ailments...Did not participate in official spring training workouts as he continued to rehab from his 2005 lower back strain...Stayed in extended spring training before beginning his season at A Kinston on May 1 and hit safely and collected RBI in 6 of the 8 games...Option was transferred to AA Akron on May 18 and played in 6 games with the Aeros before suffering a strained right knee that ended his season...Rehabbed the knee the rest of the season and appeared in 6 games in Florida Instructional League in Winter Haven.
2005
Season was again limited by injuries as lower back issues limited him to just 28 games for the AA Akron Aeros and ended his season on June 10...Played in just 1 game from May 10 thru the end of the season...Began the campaign by hitting .307 (23-75) w/3HR & 15RBI in 19 April games...Was placed on the minor league DL for the first time on May 10 w/lower back inflammation and was on the DL from May 10 to June 9...Was activated from the DL on June 10 and started at DH that night at Altoona (0-2, RBI)...Was removed from the game after 2 plate appearances with more soreness and did not appear the remainder of the season...Visited with back specialist Dr. Robert Watkins several times over the summer in Los Angeles, CA, which revealed a stress fracture to a lumbar vertebrae (lower back)...Mike rehabbed the back the remainder of the summer and did not participate in the Arizona Fall League (had initially been scheduled to play in the AFL)...Had back-to-back 3-hit/3RBI games on April 29-30 vs. Harrisburg...During his stint at Akron he hit .280 (21-75) off RHP, .290 (9-31) off LHP and .280 (7-25) with RISP...Was 3 for 4 w/6RBI with the bases loaded...Contract was purchased from AA Akron and added to 40-man roster on November 18... Split the year between A Kinston and AA Akron in his first full professional season and hit .310 (109-352) between the two stops with 21 2B, 15HR & 82RBI in 98 games...Struck out only 44 times in 414 plate appearances...After the season he was named the 2nd best prospect in the Indians organization by Baseball America...Was 4 for 4 w/2RBI on 5/8 vs. Salem and 4 for 5 w/2RS, a 2B & 1RBI on 5/24 vs. Salem...Over his last 42 games at Kinston he hit .370 (57-154) with 8HR & 48 RBI and was a Carolina League All-Star selection...Hit .368 (35-95) in May for the eventual Carolina League champs w/5HR & 28 RBI and was hitting .373 (22-59) w/3HR & 20RBI in 19 June games before being promoted to Akron on 6/21...At the time of his promotion he was 5th in the league in average (.339) and 4th in RBI (60) in the Carolina League...Made his Double A debut on 6/21 at Altoona (2-5, RBI) and was hitting .259 (15-58) thru 16 games in June and July before suffering a strained right hamstring which forced him to the DL from 7/8-8/13...Hit .357 (15-42) w/1HR & 11 RBI vs. LHP at AA Akron...In the final game of the year on Sept. 6 vs. Harrisburg he was 3 for 4 w/2HR & 5 RBI as he drove in 8 runs over the season's final 3 games... Spent his first professional season at A Lake County of the South Atlantic League after signing his pro contract on 6/16...Made his professional debut on 6/18 vs. Delmarva (0-3) before straining his left quad on 6/19 vs. Delmarva crossing home plate and was subsequently placed on the disabled list...Missed one month before playing again on 7/19...Hit in 10 straight games from 7/29-8/9 and 14 of 15 games from 7/29-8/16...Over his last 29 games of the season from 7/29 thru the end of the season he hit .385 (42-109) with 11 2B, 3HR & 13 RBI to raise his average from .207 to .348...Was outstanding with the glove, compiling a fielding % of .994 (363TC, 2E) in his 37 games at first base...Drove in a season-high 4 runs on 7/24 vs. Charleston (WV)...Hit .400 (36-90) off RHP w/4HR & 17 RBI and .250 (12-48) off LHP w/a HR & 2RBI...Hit .389 (21-54) with runners on base and .333 (10-30) w/RISP...
