Micah Andrew Bowie... married wife, Keeley, on pitcher's mound-in front of 8,000 fans-between games of a Durham Bulls doubleheader on June 3, 1995...the couple have one daughter, Brayden, born 8/26/97 and one son, Brody, born 10/11/01...1993 graduate of Kingwood (TX) High...father-in-law, Johnny Kolacek, played linebacker in the Canadian Football League.
2007
Pitched well despite swinging between rotation and bullpen in first extensive big league action since '99...appeared in 30 games, including eight starts, and posted a 4.55 ERA for Washington during an injury-plagued campaign...pitched exclusively in relief until mid-May before joining the rotation due to injuries...went 4-1 with a 4.70 ERA as a starter...when toeing the rubber, Washington went 7-1...earned the win in 4 of 5 starts from May 25-June 17...started on May 20 vs. Baltimore in what was his first start since pitching for Chicago in 1999...earned the win and worked a career-high 6.0 innings in back-to-back starts, June 12 at Baltimore and June 17 at Toronto...was placed on the 15-day DL on July 2 (retroactive to June 28) with mild synovitis in the left hip...was reinstated from the DL, Sept. 4...made two appearances before returning to the 15-Day DL, Sept. 14 (sports hernia)...was transferred to the 60-day DL three days later...went 0-2 with a 4.26 ERA when pitching in relief...made two rehab appearances with the GCL Nationals, tossing 3.0 scoreless innings vs. GCL Mets July 31 and 2.0 innings of three-run ball (two earned) at GCL Mets on Aug. 5...subsequently made three rehab outings with Triple-A Columbus from Aug. 10-21, going 0-2 with a 3.95 ERA (13.2 ip, 6 er).
2006
Had his contract purchased from New Orleans of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League on July 6, and was the lone lefthander in the Nationals bullpen for the bulk of the season's 2nd half (Bill Bray was traded to CIN on July 14 and Mike Stanton was dealt to SFG on July 28)...posted 5 holds and a 1.37 ERA in 15 games before going on the 15-Day DL on August 17 (retroactive to August 10) with a strained left latissimus dorsi, an injury that caused him to miss the rest of the regular season (49 games)...the 5 holds ranked 5th on the Nationals, 2nd among southpaws (Stanton, 10)...limited the opposition to a .164 batting average, allowing just 11 hits in 19.2 innings of work for an average of only 5.0 hits per 9 innings...opposing right-handed batters hit just .111 (5-for-45), while those batting from the left side hit .273 (6-for-22)...allowed just one run in final 8 appearances (8.1 innings) beginning July 26...retired 23 of the 27 batters he faced, July 25-August 4, including 11 in a row at one juncture...pitched in 6 of 8 games, July 25-August 1, including 3 straight (July 25-27)...when toeing the rubber, the Nationals were 8-7, including 7 wins in last 10 appearances.
Game-By-Game Highlights: Allowed just one hit in 2.1 innings in his Nationals debut, July 6 vs. FLA, relieving Livan Hernandez in a 7-5 ballgame in the 2nd inning.
In minor leagues: Went 2-0 with one save and a 3.83 ERA in 31 games with New Orleans...held opposing batters to a .213 average, struck out 57 and did not allow a home run in his 42.1 innings of work...allowed only one earned run and 6 hits in 9.2 innings in June.
