In 12th professional season, made long-awaited big league debut and played in 29 games for the Nationals... In midst of finest campaign as a pro, had contract selected from Syracuse (AAA) of the International League on August 5... WELCOME TO THE BIGS: Made MLB debut later that night as a pinch hitter as the Nationals hosted FLA... Went 2-for-14 (.143) as a pinch hitter... Made 13 appearances in the outfield, including 3 starts... Collected first big league hit, a pinch-hit single off Clay Zavada, August 9 vs. ARI... Scored first career run, September 6 vs. FLA, pinch running for Josh Bard... FEARED IN THE IL: Enjoyed career year with Syracuse, batting .367 with 18 doubles, 4 homers, 21 RBI, 14 steals and 58 runs scored in 95 games... Earned IL mid-season All-Star honors... At time of promotion to big leagues, led fullseason minor leaguers in batting average... Ranked among IL leaders in on-base percentage (1st, .424), hits (4th, 114) and runs (6th, 58)... Had not played at the Triple-A level since 2005, yet with Columbus, hit .299 against opposing lefthanders, .318 when facing right-handed pitchers...
