Jonathan Michael Meloan...attended Taylor High School in Houston, Texas where he was an All-State pitcher, leading the Greater Houston area in strikeouts in 2002...tossed a school-record three no-hitters during his career, including a 20-strikeout no-no against Mayde Creek High School his senior year... earned a pair of varsity letters in football and was named to the all-district football team after leading Taylor in receptions and touchdowns catches...was an academic all-district honoree and a member of the National Honor Society...was nominated for acceptance into the US Air Force Academy...attended the University of Arizona from 2003-2005...went 4-1 with two saves in 20 appearances, two starts, in 2003...pitched in the Cape Cod League for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the summer of 2003...led the Wildcats to their first College World Series in 18 years by going 10-0 in 2004...went 10-3 in 2005 for the Wildcats.

2009

Pitched for four different organizations in 2009 but his only Major League action came with Oakland in September...did not allow an earned run in six games and 8.1 innings with the A's...struck out 11 of the 29 batters he faced for an average of 11.88 strikeouts per nine innings...allowed a .111 opponents batting average and no extra base hits and now has a .183 (11 for 60) opponents average in his career... did not allow a hit to right-handed batters in 2009 (0 for 14, one walk) and left-handers were 3 for 13 (.231)...retired all six first batters he faced and stranded his only inherited runner...first batters faced are now 1 for 10 (.100) with two walks in his career...opponents were 0 for 7 with a walk when leading off an inning and 0 for 4 with runners in scoring position...was recalled by Oakland Sept. 19 when Sacramento's season ended and made his A's debut the next day against Cleveland...allowed an unearned run in a career-high tying 2.0 innings against the Indians, but did not allow a run over his final five games and 6.1 innings.

2008

Power arm was impressive in a brief look with Cleveland in September after being acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers at the trade deadline for infielder Casey Blake...began the year in the Dodgers organization and was used in a starting role at Triple-A Las Vegas, going 5-10 with a 4.97 ERA in 21 games, 20 starts...his best month was April when he went 2-1 with a 2.45 ERA in five starts...struck out 25 in 25.2 innings...Pacific Coast League batters hit .289 off him with seven home runs...left-handed batters hit .258 and right-handers batted .318 with six home runs...batters hit .295 with runners on and .283 with runners in scoring position...was assigned to Triple-A Buffalo after the trade and made 12 relief appearances for the Bisons...International League hitters batters .235 off him with one home run allowed in 14.2 innings...righties were 5 for 25 (.200) and batters were 2 for 14 (.143) with runners in scoring position...recalled to Cleveland when rosters expanded Sept. 1 and made his Indians debut Sept. 13 (day) against Kansas City (1.0 ip, 2 so)...also appeared in relief Sept. 21 against Detroit (1.0 ip, 1 bb)...prior to the 2008 season, he was named the eighth best prospect in the Dodgers organization by Baseball America.

2007

Made his Major League debut Sept. 1, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings at San Diego...struck out Khalil Greene in that game for his first ML strikeout...appeared in five big league games during the season's final month, posting an 11.05 ERA...was named to the Southern League All-Star team at midseason... named the Dodgers' Minor League Pitcher of the Month in June when he posted a 0.68 ERA and held opposing hitters to a .130 batting average...was named the Double-A Reliever of the Year by milb.com...held minor league hitters to a .156 average, which was tied for third in minor league baseball among all relievers...was rated the best reliever in the Southern League by Baseball America in its "Best Tools" issue...in his two combined stops, he went 7-2 with a 2.03 ERA...was 5-2 with a 2.18 ERA and 19 saves in 35 games for Double-A Jacksonville before being promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas...while with the 51s, he went 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA and one save in 14 games prior to being promoted to the Dodgers...held right-handed hitters to a .114 batting average while with Las Vegas.

2006

Moved through three minor league levels...split time between Single-A Columbus and Vero Beach and Double-A Jacksonville, combining to go 3-1 with one save and a 1.90 ERA with 91 strikeouts in 21 games, including three starts...was placed on the seven-day DL May 12 with a right foot infection...activated May 25...dominated at Columbus, going 1-1 with one save and a 1.54 ERA in 12 games while limiting opposing hitters to a .118 average...called up to Vero Beach July 8 and appeared in four games, three starts, for the Dodgers, compiling a 1-0 record with a 2.50 ERA...fanned 27 and walked just four...promoted to Jacksonville Aug. 7 and closed out the year going 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA and 23 strikeouts in five games for the Suns...the opposition went a paltry 3 for 35 (.086) against him... was impressive while representing the Dodgers in the Arizona Fall League for the Mesa Solar Sox...in 14 games, he was 2-0 with one save and a 1.96 ERA...earned a spot in the "Rising Stars Showcase"... ranked the seventh best prospect and as having the best slider among Dodger prospects, according to Baseball America.

2005

Made his professional debut at Rookie-level Ogden, going 0-2 with one save and a 3.69 ERA in 16 games, six starts...held batters to a .210 average.
