John Patrick Raynor...graduated South Johnston HS (NC) and attended University of North Carolina-Wilmington, where he was a two-time Colonial League All-Star.

Opened his fifth professional campaign on the Pirates Opening Day roster after being a Rule 5 selection by Pittsburgh in December, 2009 ... Made his Major League debut on April 8 vs. Los Angeles (NL) as a pinch hitter, drawing a walk ... Appeared in 11 games with the Bucs before being returned to Florida. Owned two hits in 10 atbats ... Tallied first ML hit on April 12 at San Francisco, a single off Barry Zito. His other hit came on April 20 vs. Milwaukee ... Upon his return to Florida, was transferred to triple-A New Orleans. Posted a .284 average with six doubles, two home runs and 13 RBI in 41 games with the Zephyrs ... Collected at least one hit in each of his first seven games with the Z's, batting .321 in that time ... Had two stints on the Disabled List with New Orleans. Landed on the DL for the first time on April 22 with a left foot contusion and was returned on June 7. Sent back to the DL on June 14 with a strained left groin and was returned from rehab and reinstated from the DL on August 1 ... On August 10, drove in a season-high four runs in a 2x4 performance at Salt Lake ... Hit left-handed pitchers at a .375 clip (18x48). HIs average dropped to .233 (20x86) against righthanded pitching.

Spent entire season with New Orleans (Marlins' AAA)...Made 100 appearances in left field, five in center field and three in right field...Also went 4-for-15 (.267) in four games as the designated hitter...Batted .211 (19-for-90) in first 23 games thru 5/5...Reached base safely in 22 of the 23 games he started during the month of May and hit .323 (32-for-99) in 24 games overall...Produced a 12-game hitting streak from 5/3-14 (17-for-52, .327), which was capped off with a season-high four-hit game on 5/14 vs. Tacoma...Raised average from .211 to .283 by hitting safely in 21 of his 23 games from 5/2-28 (32-for-95, .337)...Swiped a season-high two bases once; on 5/4 vs. Round Rock...Had nine-game hitting streak from 6/8-17 (13-for-38, .342), but then suffered a 2-for-38 streak over his next 11 games thru 7/4...Went hitless in seven straight games (16 at bats) from 7/29 thru 8/4 before hitting safely in eight-ofnine from 8/6-15 (14-for-41, .341)...Recorded a .306 average (26-for-85) in 24 games during the month of August and reached base safely in 21 of his final 23 games, beginning on 8/8...Was claimed by Pittsburgh in Rule 5 Draft on 12/10.

Established minor league career highs in games, at bats and doubles while spending entire season with Carolina (Marlins' AA)...Matched career high in home runs...Led Florida organization in runs and stolen bases...Made 98 appearances in left field, 20 in right field and six in center field...Connected for first home run, a grand slam, on 4/18 at Jacksonville and knocked in a season-high four runs...Also homered again the following day vs. Tennessee...Was successful in season-high 17 consecutive stolen base attempts from 4/19 thru 5/24...Homered in three consecutive games from 7/7-9; the homer streak came during a season-high 15-game hitting streak in which he batted .410 (25-for-61) from 6/24 thru 7/12...Collected a season-high four hits on 7/28 vs. Jacksonville...Hit .378 (34-for-90) with three home runs, seven RBI and 20 runs scored in 25 games during the month of July...Swiped three bases in a game twice (6/12 and 7/27) and swiped two bases 10 times...Was tabbed by Baseball America as the 'Fastest Baserunner' in the Southern League at the end of the season...Hit .364 (12-for-33) with one home run and 10 RBI in eight games with the Mesa Solar Sox during the Arizona Fall League.
