Esteban is in his second year with the Cubs after being acquired from Tampa Bay, Mar. 25, 2022 for OF Harold Ramírez....Owns a .270 average (206-for-763) with 56 doubles, two triples, 43 home runs and 168 RBI in 244 career minor league games....Made his Major League debut on Sept. 17, 2022 vs. Colorado...collected his first Major League hit Sept. 20, 2022, vs. Miami....Was traded from San Diego to Tampa Bay, Mar. 26, 2020 as the player to be named later for OF Hunter Renfroe....Was signed by the Red Sox as a Minor League free agent, Nov. 21, 2017...was traded to San Diego for RHP Colten Brewer, Nov. 20, 2018....Played seven seasons for Quintana Roo (2011-16) and Yucatán (2017) in the Mexican League.

2022

Esteban made his Major League debut in 2022, appearing in 14 games for the Cubs, batting .275 (11-for-40) with three RBI... Spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Iowa, batting .212 (25-for-118) with four doubles, three home runs and 13 RBI in 40 games... Missed from May 21-Aug. 7 with a left knee injury... Had his contract selected Sept. 17 and made his Major League debut that day vs. Colorado... Sept. 20 vs. Miami, recorded his first Major League hit, a single off Pablo López... Prior to the season, was traded to the Cubs from Tampa Bay, Mar. 25 for OF Harold Ramírez.

2020

Added to the Rays 60-man player pool on Aug. 14 and spent the summer at the alternate training site in Port Charlotte…ranked by Baseball America as the No. 8 prospect in the Rays system following the season.

2019

Spent the entire season with El Paso (AAA), batting .271 (83-for-306) with 25 2B, 19 HR, 66 RBI, 64 runs scored, a .384 OBP and a .539 SLG in 96 regular-season games...Set career-highs in 2B (25), HR (19) and RBI (66)...Started the season with a six-game hitting streak, batting .409 (9-for-22) with 1 2B, 2 HR, 10 RBI and 8 runs scored to go along with a .500 OBP and .727 SLG during that span...Set a career-high on June 25 with 5 hits in 5 AB including 1 2B and the game-winning single in the 8th inning of a 12-11 ELP victory over Sacramento…the 5-hit game was the first by a ELP player since Allen Craig on July 25, 2018...His pinch-hit, walk-off grand slam on August 9 capped a 10-run ninth-inning comeback for ELP in a 15-12 win over Round Rock to snap ELP's 5-game losing streak…the grand slam, the 232nd of the season for ELP, broke the PCL single-season HR mark previously held by the 1999 Omaha Golden Spikes...Began the 2019 offseason by helping the Mexican National Team secure a birth in the 2020 Olympics...Joined the Cañeros de Los Mochis for the final 25 games of the Mexican Pacific Winter League regular season, slashing .258/.364/.438 in 25 games with 4 2B, 4 HR, 17 RBI, 13 BB and 23 R...Helped Los Mochis reach the MPL semifinals by hitting .306 throughout the playoffs with 2 2B, 5 HR, 16 RBI, 6 BB, 1 SB and 10 runs with a .382 OBP and a .653 SLG...Ended his playoff run with a four-game hitting streak batting .429 (6-for-14) with 1 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI and 1 SB during that span.

Spent most the season with Portland (AA), including a rehab assignment with the GCL Red Sox (R), playing 32 games with POR and slashing .283/.406/.547 with five 2B, one 3B, seven HR and 31 RBI...His .547 SLG between POR and RSX set a career high in a single season...Hit .299 (26-for-87) with POR, logging five 2B, seven HR, 24 RBI and a 1.011 OPS...his .598 SLG led the team and his .413 OBP ranked third... Between the two clubs, his 3.42 AB/RBI (31 RBI to 106 AB) set a career best in a season...Played 29 games for the Caneros de Los Mochis in the Mexican Pacific Winter League, slashing .256/.409/.511 with six 2B, one 3B, five HR, 17 RBI and 23 BB.

2017

Named a Mexican League mid-season All-Star in his 1st season with Yucatan...Hit .293 (84-for-287) with 11 HR and a .428 OBP in 89 games ...Started 80 games at 2B and 3 at 3B. Led Yucatan in BB (64) and OBP (.428) as the club finished with the Sur division's best record (63-42, .600). Had the 2nd-highest BB/SO ratio among qualifying Mexican League hitters (1.56, 64 BB/41 SO). Set career highs in XBH (34) and steals (8-for-10) and matched his career best in doubles (23). Hit .359 with a 1.103 OPS vs. LHP (23-for-64, 7 2B, 3 HR). Homered in 4 straight games from 5/7-11, hitting 2 HR on 5/11 at Campeche...Had 12 RBI in those games. Struck out in only 3 of his final 19 regular season games from 7/11-8/4 (16-for-61, 3 SO, 17 BB). Appeared in 6 postseason games as Yucatan swept Leon in 4 games in the opening round before losing to Puebla in the semifinals, 4 games to 1. Prior to the season, reached base in 8 of 10 PA for Mexico in the World Baseball Classic (4-for-6, 2 HR, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 5 RBI)...Homered in the club's 10-9 loss to Italy and in an 11-9 win over Venezuela. Following the season, hit .264 (52-for-197) with a .388 OBP in 59 games for Mazatlan in the Mexican Pacific Winter League.
